If you have photos in your camera that you'd like to transfer to a Kindle Fire, you can safely do it through your computer. All you need is a micro-USB cable for the Kindle, and a USB cable compatible with your camera model. Alternatively, you can also use a USB memory card reader for the camera memory card to connect to your computer.

Step 1. Connect the camera to the computer

Insert the USB cable into the USB port on the camera, then plug the other end of the cable (the wider one) into a free USB port on your computer.

If you want to use a USB memory card reader instead, remove the memory card from the camera (see the camera manual for the memory card slot) and insert it into the compatible slot of a USB memory card reader. Once this is done, plug the player into a free USB port on your computer

Step 2. Access the camera memory

  • On Windows, go to "My Computer" or "This PC" (depending on the version of the operating system) and open the camera memory from there. Click on "Removable disk" or "Camera" when the list of devices you can access appears. Select the DCIM folder (it is the one where all the photos and videos taken with the camera are stored).
  • On Mac, the camera storage folder automatically appears on the desktop. When it appears, click on the hard disk icon to open it. Click on the DCIM folder to access the photos.

Step 3. Copy the photos you want to transfer to your Kindle Fire

If you want, create a new folder by first clicking with the right button in an empty area within any directory on your computer, and then selecting "New" and "Folder".

Step 1. Copy the photos from your computer

Open the folder where you transferred the photos from your camera, then select the ones you want to put on your Kindle Fire and copy them by pressing Ctrl + C or Cmd + C.

Step 2. Connect Kindle Fire to PC

Insert the micro-USB cable into the Kindle's charging port, and connect the other output to a free USB port on your computer.

Step 3. Unlock Kindle Fire to allow USB connection

Your Kindle will detect the connection and notify you with an on-screen message.

Step 4. Access the Kindle Fire's internal storage

  • On Windows, go to My Computer, Computer, or This PC and locate the Kindle Fire in the list of accessible devices. Open the "Internal Storage" folder, and then the one called "Photos" (this is the Kindle folder where the images are stored).
  • On Mac, the Kindle should automatically appear on the desktop as a hard drive icon. Click to access the "Internal Storage" folder, then open the "Photos" folder.

If you wish, you can organize your photos into subfolders, which will appear as albums in the Kindle Fire Gallery. Create a new folder and rename it giving it the title you want to assign to that particular album, then transfer the photos to that folder

Step 6. Disconnect the Kindle from the computer

After transferring all the photos, press the “Disconnect” button on the Kindle screen. The computer will emit a sound notification to warn you that the disconnection was successful.

After the sound notification, you can disconnect the cable from both your computer and Kindle Fire

Step 1. Go to the Gallery

On the Kindle Fire home screen, tap on Gallery to open it. You will see an album for each image folder.

Step 2. Press on the album in which you have saved the photos

If you copied the photos directly to the "Photos" folder, select the "Photos" album to view the images you transferred. If you have created a new folder, locate and select the album with the same name as the folder you created.
