Steps
Method 1 of 2: Search from the Browser
Step 1. Enter the Facebook home page
At the top and center you will find the search bar.
Step 2. Type a name
Facebook will show you a list of results. Try to recognize the face of the person you are looking for among the many shown and click on it. If the person you are looking for is not among the results displayed, click on "See other results for …"
Step 3. Filter the results
On the left column select the item People by clicking on it (choose the category related to what you are looking for). In this way you will filter the results obtained with your search by displaying only the category of your interest.
Step 4. Refine your search
In the section dedicated to Search Filters you can enter more information to refine your search and find the desired person more quickly.
Step 5. Check the results
Scroll down the list and when you seem to have identified the requested person, open their page to verify that they are the one you were looking for. If you know the person in question, ask them to become friends. If you are looking for a fan page or group you can like it or ask to be added.
Method 2 of 2: Search from Facebook Mobile
Step 1. Open the application
Tap the three lines at the top left to open the menu.
Step 2. Type a name
The Search section will open and you can type the name of the person you want to find. As soon as you type the first few letters Facebook will start showing you results and will narrow the possibilities as you go on typing.
