Facebook offers several benefits, including the ability to keep in touch with your friends and celebrate friendships to the fullest. Posting photos, commenting and reacting to friends' posts creates virtual "memories" that can be shared using the "Memories" function. In addition, Facebook constantly offers collections of memories within the News Feed, so it is recommended that you check them out once a day. These features are very effective in reminding your friends (and yourself) that your relationship is unique and special.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Using the "Memories" Function
Step 1. Access the News Feed on your computer or mobile device
Log in to Facebook by entering your username and password. The login should allow you to automatically open the News Feed. You can also click on the "Home" button or the Facebook logo on the top left.
If you open the site on a mobile device or use the Facebook application, click on the News Feed logo in the top right or left
Step 2. In the side panel that appears on the left, click on "Memories"
It is located in the section titled "Explore", more or less in the middle of the list.
If you are using the mobile site or application, click on the three-line button to find this section. It can be found in the list titled "Apps" or "Explore"
Step 3. View the memories of the day and select one to share
This section lists examples of activities carried out on a certain date. These activities are recorded from the moment an account is opened on the social network. At the bottom of the page you will also see other reminders that Facebook finds relevant. Look for the "Share" button at the bottom of the post. You will then be able to decide who you would like to share this content with.
- If the post was private, you won't be able to share it. This is why some publications do not have a "Share" button.
- Sharing a post of this type allows it to appear on the News Feed of the users to whom you decide to show it. Before sharing, you can also tag friends in the post and add a description about the memory.
- Only you can see the "Memories" posts, unless you share them.
Step 4. Share the anniversary video you made friends with someone on Facebook
This section also remembers the exact date you befriended a user on Facebook. On the occasion of this anniversary, the social network creates a video that compiles examples of their interactions and demonstrations of friendship. This is a particularly special post to share with your friends to show them that you care about your relationship.
- Note that Facebook automatically generates these videos only for friends with whom you have frequent interactions. These movies are not processed for anyone.
- Unfortunately, anniversary videos are not always available and are automatically deleted at the end of the day.
Step 5. If you wish, filter your memories
Sometimes Facebook accidentally celebrates moments you'd rather forget. The "Memories" section offers the possibility to exclude certain people and dates. Just go to the "Memories" page, click on "Preferences", then select the users and / or dates you don't want to commemorate.
These settings will not be shared with anyone - only you will be aware of them. Should you exclude a friend, that user will not be notified of this
Method 2 of 2: Checking the News Feed
Step 1. Update the News Feed every day
Most of the options associated with "Memories" appear in the News Feed. To make sure you don't miss the opportunity to celebrate a friendship, check the feed at least once a day.
Step 2. Share a collection of memories compiled by Facebook
At the top of the Feed, a collection of memories processed by Facebook is occasionally offered for the past month, year or season. These memories generally include photos you've posted or been tagged in. At the bottom of the post you can find a button to share the collection.
You can also enter a description, such as "I had a great time with my best friends this summer!"
Step 3. Check if Facebook has sent you a celebratory message
When you reach a certain milestone with your friends, Facebook may send you an alert. These messages also appear at the top of the News Feed and only you can see them. But if you want to share them, take a screenshot and post a photo.
- For example, these milestones include hitting the 100 friend threshold or receiving 1000 likes.
- Facebook also offers the ability to share them directly on your News Feed.
Step 4. Keep up to date with new Facebook features
The social network constantly offers new methods to celebrate friendship on its site or application. For example, the "Memories" feature is only two years old! To make sure you're always up to date, search Google for "new Facebook features" about once a month.
