Being able to comb long hair is not easy, but it is necessary if you do not want to resort to more drastic methods. Learn how to do it correctly by following the guide's advice.
Steps
Step 1. Check your hair for the most noticeable knots
It is advisable to gently melt them with your fingers rather than with the hard teeth of the comb. Untie these knots gently, without tearing your hair. Make long, even movements to avoid damaging the strands.
Step 2. If you have a detangling hair product or leave-in conditioner available, now is the time to use it
Apply it evenly and let it absorb into your hair.
Step 3. Divide your hair into sections based on volume and length
It will be easier, and less daunting, to comb the individual strands. Separate sections of hair with clips or nozzles. Select a section to start from.
Step 4. Begin by combing the ends of the hair and gradually and slowly move upwards until the entire section of hair is untangled and combed
Step 5. Move to a new section of hair and continue until all is combed
Finally, run your fingers gently through your hair and make sure you haven't missed any knots. Then congratulate yourself on your great job!
Advice
- Never use a brush on damp or wet hair. It will only jerk and break them without being able to remove the knots. Use a wide-toothed comb.
- It is best to comb long hair after washing and moisturizing it with a detangling product. If possible, comb them by distributing the conditioner in your hair, before rinsing them. It will be easier than combing dry hair.
- If you have trouble brushing your hair, you probably have split ends. A cut to shorten them slightly may be the healthiest and least painful solution.
- Wash your hair regularly.
Warnings
- Combing or brushing your hair from the root can cause knots to appear. Always start with the tips.
- Be gentle!
