Terminal is an application included with all Macs. It may seem difficult to use because it doesn't have a graphical interface, but it offers a number of useful features and you can use it to automate things that you would otherwise have to do manually on your system. This article tells you how to play on the Terminal. This means you can play without having to download anything and without even having to use the internet connection!
Steps
Step 1. Find the Terminal
It is normally placed in the dock but if it is not there, you can search for it with Spotlight. Alternatively, open Finder, press Cmd-Shift-G and type "/Applications/Utilities/Terminal.app".
Step 2. Open the Terminal
Type "emacs". Press Enter and hold Esc + X.
Step 3. Type in the name of the game you want to play
The choices are listed in the following section. After choosing the game, press Enter and play in the Terminal.
Method 1 of 6: Tetris
Step 1. Type "Tetris" after following the instructions from the previous section
A window should appear with the falling tetris blocks.
Step 2. Move the blocks with the left and right arrows
Rotate them with the up and down arrows. On the right side you should see your score, lines and shapes.
If you don't know how to play Tetris, see How to play Tetris
Method 2 of 6: Snake
Step 1. Type "Snake" after following the instructions in the previous section
A window should appear with a moving yellow snake.
Step 2. Control the snake with the right, left, up and down arrows
Try to collect the beads that appear on the screen.
- Snake's goal is to guide the snake across the screen by collecting the beads that appear. The more beads you eat, the higher your score will be, but the snake will grow.
- Touching the edges of the screen or touching your own tail will kill the snake, and you will lose.
Method 3 of 6: Gomoku
Step 1. Type "Gomoku" after following the instructions in the previous section
A window full of dots should appear.
Step 2. Type y or n (pressing Y will let the computer start the game, pressing N will start you)
Step 3. Move the selector using the arrows on the keyboard and select by pressing X
Gomoku is like Forza 4 except you have to line up 5 to win
Method 4 of 6: Pong
Step 1. Type "Pong" after following the instructions in the previous section
A window should appear with two bars on each side and a bouncing red ball.
Step 2. Check the left bar using the left and right arrows, and the right bar using the up and down arrows
The score is shown below the game screen.
The purpose of pongo is to touch the opponent's area with the ball. The only defense available are the bars that are used to bounce the ball
Method 5 of 6: Doctor
Step 1. Type "Doctor" after following the instructions in the previous section
A text should appear that says "I am the psychotherapist. Tell me about your problem. Each time you finish talking, press Enter twice." You are now having a conversation with the doctor locked up in your Mac!
Step 2. Type what you want to share with the doctor
Have fun, but know that it might eventually bother you.
