This article explains how to change the password to access the Wi-Fi network created by a TP-Link router. This is the password you must provide to gain access to the wireless network generated and managed by the device.
Steps
Step 1. Make sure your computer is connected to the Wi-Fi network generated by the TP-Link router under consideration
In order to have access to the configuration page of the network router, you must be connected to the LAN that it manages.
If the router's Wi-Fi connection is not configured correctly, you will need to connect your computer to the router using an Ethernet network cable
Step 2. Launch your internet browser
To access the router's configuration web page, enter its IP address in the address bar of the browser.
Step 3. Enter the IP address 192.168.1.1 into the browser address bar
This is the network address commonly used by TP-Link routers.
Step 4. Provide login credentials to the router configuration page
If you have not changed the default factory settings, you will need to use the word admin as both the username and password.
If you've customized your router login credentials but don't currently remember them exactly, you'll need to reset your device before continuing
Step 5. Go to the Wireless tab
It is listed on the left side of the page that appeared.
Step 6. Choose the Wireless Security option
It is one of the items in the card menu Wireless visible on the left side of the page.
Step 7. Scroll down the page to select the WPA-PSK / WPA2-PSK security protocol from its drop-down menu
It is located at the bottom of the main page pane.
Step 8. Enter the new network password
You will need to enter it in the "Password" text field. In some cases the field in which to enter the password may be characterized by the item "PSK Password".
Step 9. Press the Save button
It is located at the bottom of the page.
Step 10. Press the OK button when prompted
The new password chosen will be saved. You will need to restart the router for the changes to take effect.
Step 11. Go to the System Tools tab
It is located at the bottom of the left sidebar of the page.
Step 12. Choose the Reboot option
It is one of the items on the menu System Tools.
Step 13. Press the OK button when prompted
The router will restart. When the boot process is complete, the new password will be applied.
