Wouldn't it be great to step into the BBC's Doctor Who series TARDIS and take a journey through time and space? wikiHow tried to contact the Doctor - no luck for now - but we managed to find blueprints to build our own, since we have yet to defeat the laws of physics, it won't be any bigger inside than it is at. exterior, but by following these simple steps you will be well on your way!

- Sonic screwdriver (optional)
- View of the disassembled parts. If your TARDIS looks like this when finished, you haven't used enough glue!
Steps
Method 1 of 6: Plan
Step 1. Determine the final size
It will make a difference in construction, materials and of course cost. Also consider that a life-size replica would be very heavy, so you have to build it where you want it to stay.
- For this article, the unit of measurement will be referred to as "units" instead of centimeters or inches. For example, instead of 1 cm, the article will use the abbreviation 1u.
- This is the basis for all relative dimensions that you will need to calculate to get the final dimension. If your TARDIS will have a 4cm square base, you will need to multiply everything by 4. For example, let's say the vertical columns on each corner will be 2u high on a 0.1u base. multiply everything by 4 and the final dimensions will be 8cm x 0.4cm x 0.4cm.
Step 2. Retrieve all the material
Refer to the list in the "List of Materials" section at the bottom of the page, and cut all the pieces so they are ready to assemble before you begin.
The way the article is set up, it is assumed that you are building a scale model. If you want to build one full size, do it safely, using screwdrivers and staples if necessary
Method 2 of 6: Build the structure
Step 1. Start with the base
Spread it out on a flat surface. If it is small enough to move after the TARDIS is finished, place it on a sheet of paper or other protective material. If it will stay where you are building it, check that the ground is level and dry. Roll out a tarp if necessary.
Base = 1u square x 0.2u in height
Step 2. Add the corner columns and the ceiling
This will be the structure to add everything else, so build it carefully.
Step 3. Mark the corners
With a pencil, mark the inner top of the base on all four corners at 0.05u. For example, if your base is a 4cm square, make a mark every 0.2cm (4 x 0.05 = 0.2).
Step 4. Connect the dots
Draw a line connecting the midpoints of your signs as a guide for placing the other parts of the TARDIS.
Step 5. Attach the columns
Glue the columns to the base so that they remain within the guidelines, as shown.
Step 6. Attach the ceiling
Place the ceiling plank on top of the columns, so that the edges are level.
Step 7. Let the TARDIS frame dry and let the glue work
Method 3 of 6: Build the ceiling
Step 1. Build the outer roof structure
Take the 4 pieces of the outer roof and glue them to form a frame.
Step 2. Build the structure of the inside of the roof
Using the 4 pieces of the inner roof, glue them to form a box that can fit into the outer roof structure.
If there are any holes don't worry, you will remove them with filler before painting it
Step 3. Paste the structure
Center the framed structure over the ceiling and make marks to fix its position. Put glue on the bottom of the frame and paste. Add the four support blocks to the outer corners of the frame as shown.
Step 4. Attach the top
Put glue on the support blocks and place the roof. It should line up with the top of the bezels.
Step 5. Alternative roof assembly:
Replace the frames with single pieces. Instead of an external frame and an internal one plus support blocks, center and glue a board 0, 7u x 0, 1u and overlap another board 0, 6u x 0, 1u
Step 6. Add a block for the lantern
Center and glue this block over the roof structure
Step 7. Let it dry
Check that the roof is level and let the glue dry.
Step 8. Add a lantern
Method 4 of 6: Build the sides
Step 1. Glue them between the columns
For all sides except the door, center the side panels between the columns. Glue these pieces to the base and sides and let dry.
- If they are too thick, trim them on one side until they are the right size.
- If they are too small, add a small frame between the columns, and glue the side panels to those frames.
Step 2. Add windows
Glue the window panels to each side except the door. They should fit snugly between the top of the panels and the roof.
Step 3. Add the vertical finishes
Attach the long vertical strip in the center of each side panel (all 3) and let it dry.
Step 4. Add the horizontal finish
Starting at 0.05u from the base of the side panel, make a mark every 0.5u. do this on each side of the vertical trims, and on the edges of the side panels. Add horizontal trims to each stitch, as shown.
Method 5 of 6: Mount the door
Step 1. Build the fixed side
Attach the left door panel, centered on the vertical left column. Glue it to the column and base, and check that it is straight.
Let it dry
Step 2. Attach the hinges
The TARDIS opens inwards, then glues the hinges to the inside of the right door panel. Center the door panel on the right vertical column, and then glue the hinges to that column. Try it to see if it opens easily.
Step 3. Add windows
Attach a window panel to the left door panel, glue it well to the panel, column and ceiling. For the floating door panel, glue only the bottom of the window.
Step 4. Add the vertical finish
- Glue the vertical strip to the left door panel so that the right edge of the strip is aligned with the right edge of the door panel.
- Glue the vertical strip to the right door panel so that the left edge of the strip is aligned with the left edge of the door.
Step 5. Add the horizontal finish
Starting at 0.05u from the base of the door panel, make a mark every 0.5u. do it on each side of the vertical part, trim, and on the outer sides of the door panels. Glue a horizontal finish to each stitch, as you did for the side finishes.
Step 6. Let everything dry well
Method 6 of 6: Finish your TARDIS
Step 1. Now that you're done, you can customize it
Start painting it with a dark blue-gray. Here is a color swatch that you can use as a reference.
- The color officially approved by the BBC for the TARDIS is Pantone 2955C.
- Cover your windows, unless you want them blue!
Step 2. Add the handle
When the color is dry, add the handle to the door.
- You can also add a magnetic latch to secure the door, or a door stop on the base and on the roof so that it cannot be opened outwards.
- Last the inside. A golden color could be an excellent choice.
Step 3. Add the signs
Add a sign on the top that says. White letters on a black background.
The sign on the front of the TARDIS says:
Step 4. You are now the proud owner of a TARDIS
Have a good trip!
