Vaporizers are used instead of normal smoke extraction methods to inhale all the natural vapors of the substance being smoked, rather than consuming them along with the carcinogens caused by combustion. Usually these vaporizers are very expensive and for this reason they are out of the reach of the average smoker. Fortunately, you can learn how to make one using items you can commonly find at home. Read on to learn more.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Using a Heat Gun
Step 1. Gather what you need
Even if you will have to buy a specific tool to make a vaporizer with this method, you will still save money. A new vaporizer costs around € 100-200, while the price of a heat gun is around € 40; everything else can be found directly at home or at the supermarket for less than 5 €. To make this vaporizer, you will need:
- A heat gun that reaches a temperature of 200 ° C;
- The paper roll of the paper towel and one of toilet paper of the same diameter;
- Tinfoil;
- An oven bag (such as those of the saccoccio);
- An infuser;
- Some cable ties;
- A funnel or coffee tank small enough to fit into the paper towel tube.
Step 2. Cover the inside of the paper tubes with aluminum foil
To help you, you can roll the foil on a pen or ruler and then unroll it inside the paper tubes. Leave some edge to wrap around the outer edges of the tubes, securing them to the cardstock.
There are conflicting opinions about using tinfoil at high temperatures, because it could emit dangerous vapors. Some studies suggest that aluminum poisoning contributes to the onset of Alzheimer's, even this method does not allow aluminum to dissolve or degrade. Keep this in mind if you use your vaporizer for health reasons
Step 3. Secure the funnel to one of the outlets of the long cardboard tube using aluminum foil
The funnel must point outwards. You can use tape or glue to seal it well before securing it with foil.
Step 4. Secure the sachet around the funnel spout and secure it with zip ties
Then, fold the corners of the sachet over the tie and secure them with another zip tie. You have created a folded edge so that the sachet stays firmly attached to the nozzle of the heat gun.
The sachet will contain the vapor emitted by the heated substance. You can spin the sachet; so you should have something to plug the hole in the sachet or you can just use your thumb
Step 5. Assemble the vaporizer
Now you find yourself with a bunch of weird stuff covered in tinfoil. Don't worry, it assembles in no time. Point the nozzle of the heat gun up and pin the toilet paper roll covered with foil over it. Put the smoking substance in the infuser and place it on that roll.
Now take the other roll, that of the paper towel with the funnel or with the coffee tank facing up. Place the paper roll on top of the other and seal it with more aluminum foil. Connect the sachet to the funnel and we are ready to go
Step 6. Vaporize
Turn on the heat gun - the sachet will begin to fill with steam. Even though it is sometimes hard to see, don't worry, it's there. When the sachet deflates completely, turn off the gun and inhale the steam that remains in the roll (there will be a lot of it, don't waste it). Inhale the steam from the bag.
Method 2 of 3: Vaporizer box
Step 1. Gather what you need
This is the simplest and most primitive way to make a vaporizer, it requires very few very common items. You will need:
- A small box;
- A tealight candle that fits into the box;
- A small metal tray that can fit on the box, possibly one of the tea light holders or the cap of a can of hand cream;
- A glass large enough to cover the metal tray;
- A rubber tube or a collapsible straw.
Step 2. Light the candle and place it in the box
Light it up and make sure there is space on the sides of the box for it not to catch fire.
Basically, what you need to do is put the substance you want to smoke on the tray with the candle and use the glass to collect the vapor, to be inhaled through the tube. It is a simple method
Step 3. Place the tray over the flame, resting it on the sides of the box
Better to use a candle with a low enough flame so it doesn't burn the tray. Put the substance you intend to smoke on the tray.
Step 4. Place the glass on top of the tray
Get a glass large enough to fit the tray and small enough to rest on the box. Wait for the steam to enter the glass.
Step 5. Insert the tube into the glass and inhale
Once the glass fills with steam, you can start inhaling through the rubber tube. When you are done you can take it apart and no one will notice anything.
Method 3 of 3: The Bulb Vaporizer
Step 1. Gather what you need
For this method you will need:
- A light bulb;
- A plastic straw
- A 33 cl bottle of coca cola or similar drinks;
- A knife or a pair of scissors
- A pen;
- Glue or tape.
Step 2. Make two holes in the bottle cap and push the straw through one of the two
Think of these holes as slits for the straw to pass through. Make sure that the straw is firmly in place and that it does not pass air, otherwise use duct tape on the sides to make it adhere better. Leave the other hole open.
Step 3. Cut off the neck of the bottle using scissors
Take at least 8-10 cm of the bottle. You will use it to attach the bulb to it and it will act as a vaporization chamber.
If you are concerned about the problems associated with taking Bisphenol A by smoking from plastic objects, you can replace the bottle with whatever tube the bulb fits into. The handle of a small metal flashlight is also fine
Step 4. Remove the bottom of the bulb
You will need a sharp knife to work around the tightening of the light bulb. Usually it is better to cut on the hollow between the glass part and the screw connection. Be very careful.
After removing, be sure to get rid of any remaining bits of glass. It is light metal and should come off easily. After removing the metal, take out the filament and internal components of the bulb, leaving only the glass part empty
Step 5. Glue the neck of the bottle to the hole in the bulb or stick it with tape
Usually, a typical soda bottle and a regular light bulb are roughly the same size, so they should almost match perfectly. Seal them with duct tape.
Step 6. Screw the cap onto the bottle after putting the substance you intend to smoke into the glass bulb
Check that all contact points are sealed. If necessary, add some glue or tape.
Step 7. Smoke
To smoke, cover the empty hole with your thumb and breathe through the straw while heating the bulb with a windproof lighter; rotate it to prevent it from burning.
- As the heat begins to create vapor, you will notice a kind of mist appearing in the light bulb. Cover the hole in the cork with your finger and inhale through the straw.
- There are mixed opinions as to whether this bulb heating method is safe or not. Some bulbs have a plastic coating that could give off dangerous vapors, much more dangerous than those given off by the substance smoked in a conventional way. If you are going to use a light bulb, make sure it is made of clean, clear glass, and change it often.
Warnings
- Vaporizers are called "healthy" because they work with temperatures that release the active ingredient without burning organic matter; this means that combustion does not occur and therefore problems related to the carcinogenic substances of smoke do not develop. This process is very difficult to control with a candle or a lighter, so much so as to invalidate the "healthy" assumptions on which this way of smoking is based.
- If you need to vaporize substances for health problems, it is much safer to buy a vaporizer. There are many glass pipes that work on the same principle and cost under € 40.
