Wood floors are beautiful and practical at the same time. But, if water accumulates on their surface for too long, the finishes will get stained and mold can develop. This happens especially if the finishes are water-based and if the climate is humid.
Steps
Step 1. Wash the floor or stained area with an oil soap recommended for cleaning wood
Turn on a fan while you mop the floor so it dries faster.
Step 2. Use a scraper to scrape the surface to remove the mold
The scraper should be made of metal and approximately 20 cm long, 5-10 cm wide and no more than 0.5 cm thick. You will just have to press it onto the wood with the edge and then push. Make sure you use it in the direction of the wood grain.
Step 3. Use a specific abrasive sponge to remove wood finishes, or a fine grit (P180)
Sand in the direction of the wood grain to remove mold.
Step 4. Affects the remaining moldy areas
If necessary, use a small amount of diluted Clorox bleach to remove any stubborn stains. Be careful, because you can ruin the look of the wood with bleach.
Step 5. Chemicals sold to remove stains on wooden surfaces will also work well for our goal
Step 6. Gently use 200 grit sandpaper to sand the wood
Step 7. Apply a finish to the wood, preferably the same one it had before
Especially with water-based paints, it is difficult to match the finishes, unless they are of the same type!
