Steps
Part 1 of 4: Clean the Skin
Step 1. Start by washing your hands
Wash them carefully using warm water and antibacterial soap. Bacteria and dirt on your hands can clog pores, causing pimples and blackheads to appear.
Avoid scented soaps and perfumes as much as possible. Many fragrances are allergens that can irritate sensitive skin or cause allergic reactions
Step 2. Tie the person's hair away from their face
Use a rubber band to gather the lengths. With a headband you can keep fringe, tuft or shorter hair away from the face. For an ideal treatment, the skin on the face must be completely free and exposed.
Step 3. Have the person lie on their back, with their face facing you
Place a pillow under her head, making sure she is in a comfortable and relaxing position.
Consider limiting distractions by turning off your TV and cell phones. If you wish, play some relaxing music
Step 4. Remove the makeup
Pour make-up remover on a cotton ball and remove all traces of makeup from eyes, lips and skin of the face and neck. You may need to use several cotton balls for this step.
As with any other treatment step, do not tug on the skin. Use gentle movements, especially around the eye area, where the skin is very thin and sensitive
Step 5. Apply a mild cleanser
The cleanser chosen will depend on the type of skin (oily, dry, sensitive, normal, acne-prone, mature). Dermatologists recommend using alcohol-free products, as it may irritate the skin. Pour a generous amount into the palm of your hand and rub the two palms against each other, distributing the product evenly for easier application. Start at the chin and work the cleanser on your face by making circular movements with your fingers.
Step 6. Use a facial cleansing brush
If possible, invest in the purchase of a facial cleansing brush, the purpose of which is to cleanse the skin deeply. These electrical appliances are gentle enough for the facial skin, and use sonic cleansing technology to exfoliate and remove impurities that have accumulated over time in depth. Follow the product instructions, as they can vary from one to another.
Step 7. Remove the cleaner
You can do this by using a clean, damp cloth or make-up remover pads.
Step 8. Dab the skin to dry it
Use a clean, dry handkerchief. Never scrub your skin while drying it, as this may irritate it.
Part 2 of 4: Exfoliate the Skin
Step 1. Apply an exfoliating scrub
Pour a generous amount of a gentle exfoliant into the palm of your hand, and rub your palms together to distribute the product as you did with the cleanser. Apply the exfoliating scrub to the skin of the face and neck making circular movements, but avoiding the eye contour area (nothing south of the eyebrows and nothing north of the eye socket). Use very light touches; it will not be necessary to let the product penetrate the skin.
- Exfoliants remove accumulations of dead skin cells from the surface of the skin. The expected results are a smoother and fresher complexion, thanks to the exposure of the new healthier skin cells.
- If you don't have an exfoliating scrub, you can make it yourself with a mild cleanser (you can use the one used in the first part again) and a teaspoon of white sugar. Mix the two ingredients.
Step 2. As an alternative to scrub, prepare a natural enzyme peel
In a blender, mix about six strawberries with 60ml of milk. Massage the result on your face as indicated in step 1.
- Strawberry enzymes remove dead skin cells, and the milk soothes the skin.
- Do not use the enzyme peel in combination with the exfoliating scrub, otherwise you could cause excessive exfoliation of the skin, which could damage it.
Step 3. Use a warm washcloth for a steam treatment
Place a clean cloth under very hot water. Place it on your face and leave it on for five minutes.
If you have rosacea or sensitive skin, you can choose to skip this step. Steam can in fact aggravate these conditions
Step 4. Rinse the skin
Use a soft, clean cloth dampened in room temperature water or some makeup remover pads.
Step 5. Dab your face to dry it
Use a clean towel.
Part 3 of 4: Deep Cleansing with a Mask
Step 1. Apply a face mask
Cover the face with a light and even layer, avoiding the delicate eye area. There are many types of masks on the market; select one based on the specific needs of the person. You can use one purchased at a perfumery or make it yourself at home.
- For oily or acne-prone skin: mash about 50g of blueberries with a fork, then dilute the puree with 2 tablespoons of yogurt (with active cultures), 1 tablespoon of rice flour and 1 of witch hazel. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes.
- For dry skin: crush half a ripe avocado and mix it with 1 tablespoon of yogurt (with active cultures), ½ teaspoon of honey and ½ teaspoon of oil (olive, coconut or almond). Leave the mask on for about 10-15 minutes.
- To close large pores, make an egg white mask by mixing raw egg white with 5 drops of lemon juice and a small amount of mayonnaise. Leave the mask on for 20 minutes.
Step 2. Let the mask work
Normally about 15 minutes will be enough, but the pose could be shorter or longer depending on the type of mask.
- Place two cold cucumber slices on the person's eyes to relieve them and reduce any swelling.
- Let the mask dry, but not to the point of cracking or crumbling.
Step 3. Use a warm washcloth for a steam treatment
As with the exfoliating scrub, soak a clean cloth in hot water and then place it on the skin of the face. Let the steam sit for about five minutes.
As mentioned earlier, in the case of rosacea or sensitive skin, skip the step with the steam
Step 4. Remove the mask
Use a soft, clean cloth dampened in room temperature water and remove the mask with gentle movements.
Step 5. Pat the skin dry to dry
Use a clean, dry towel. You will want to leave your skin only slightly moist.
Step 6. Tone the skin
Moisten a cleansing pad with a small amount of toner and gently apply it to the skin. Toners heal and repair the skin with antioxidant and nourishing ingredients. They remain on the skin after cleansing and before applying the moisturizer. There are many varieties of tonics on sale, but it is possible to prepare equally good homemade alternatives. You will need to select a tonic suitable for the skin of the person you are pampering with facial cleansing, with the foresight to always choose an alcohol-free product. Alcohol can cause damage from free radicals, which over time can reduce the skin's ability to produce healthy collagen.
- For oily skin, you can opt for pure witch hazel.
- For dry and sensitive skin, try applying almond oil as a tonic.
- For acne-prone skin, make a toner yourself by mixing 175ml of strong green tea and 60ml of apple cider vinegar. Green tea is an anti-inflammatory and an antioxidant, while vinegar restores the skin's natural pH.
Part 4 of 4: Finish with a Moisturizing Cosmetic
Step 1. Apply a moisturizer using bottom-up movements
Use the normal moisturizer used by the person you are treating, but be careful how you apply it. Massage the cosmetic upwards, moving from the base of the neck to the forehead. You will increase blood circulation and the moisturizing cosmetic will fix the moisture acquired during the treatment in the skin.
Dermatologists recommend using a high sun protective factor (SPF 30) moisturizer, especially if you intend to expose yourself to sunlight. If not, try giving your skin a break from chemicals by preferring an SPF-free product
Step 2. Ask the person to stay indoors for at least an hour
Her skin will be sensitized by the treatment, so it will be a good idea to let her rest without exposing her to sunlight, pollution, weather conditions, and so on.
Step 3. Recommend avoiding makeup for the rest of the day
As already mentioned, the skin is in a sensitive state given by the beauty treatment. Let her enjoy a day without makeup so she can breathe and invigorate herself.
Step 4. Repeat the facial cleansing on a weekly or bi-weekly basis
In combination with a daily facial care regimen, regular facial cleansing promotes skin well-being.
Advice
When performing a facial cleanse at home, ask the person to bring their favorite products, including cleanser and moisturizer, with them. In this way you will not run the risk of skin irritation due to the use of new products
Warnings
- Notice any skin reactions to new products, including natural ones. If the person feels pain or discomfort at any time, rinse the skin with warm water to get rid of the product being used and then let it sit.
- Plan your treatment carefully for special events. Facial skin may become red or sensitive after cleaning, so it's best to do it at least a day in advance.
