People with naturally afro or very frizzy hair can have great difficulty managing them. But with the right amount of patience and work you can get the desired result.
Steps
Step 1. Choose to start with dry or wet hair
The technique is also effective on dry hair, but many prefer to apply it to damp or wet hair. If you don't want to get your hair wet, treat it with a moisturizing product or oil to avoid breaking large amounts and make very gentle movements.
Step 2. Moisten your hair by washing or spraying it with water
Step 3. Break them into multiple sections
The size of the sections depends on the time available to you and the length and volume of your hair.
Step 4. Apply a generous amount of conditioner or moisturizer to different sections of hair, and follow with a natural oil, such as coconut, jojoba or olive
You can also use shea butter. Be generous with quantities and avoid mineral oils and synthetic or silicone products.
Step 5. Use a very wide toothed comb and start combing the first section of hair
Start at the tips and gradually and slowly approach the roots.
Step 6. Repeat using a finer toothed comb as before
Step 7. After completing a section, weave it to preserve the result and length achieved
Step 8. When you have completed each section, undo the braids and gently move your hair
Advice
- The main enemy of afro hair is dehydration. There are numerous ways to combat it. Wrap your hair in a satin or silk scarf or cap while you sleep, it will prevent the cotton pillowcase from absorbing moisture. Alternatively, buy a satin or silk pillowcase.
- Overnight, tie or braid your hair to preserve your result.
- Periodically, nourish your hair with special products and masks or with a hot oil-based treatment.
