The sauna was invented in Finland hundreds of years ago and is still used today to maintain good health and hygiene, and to relieve muscle pain and congestion. Many spas and gyms offer the sauna as part of their services to customers, but they can be quite expensive. This article will teach you how to recreate the sauna environment in the bathroom of your home.
Steps
Step 1. Choose a bathroom to use as a sauna
You should choose the smallest available, as it will best trap heat and steam.
Step 2. Soak a washcloth in cold water for safety
It will be easy to reach it in case you feel excessive heat or suffer from a fit of dizziness.
Step 3. Close the bathroom door
Make sure there are no gaps where air can enter or escape.
Step 4. If necessary, cover them with heavy towels
Remember to also cover the windows so that cold air does not enter the room during the cold winter days.
You can roll up the towels and place them at the foot of the door
Step 5. Put the tub cap on and open the hot water tap
Choose the highest degree of heat available. You can also open the shower faucet as an alternative to the bath faucet.
Close the shower curtains or walls to trap as much heat and steam as possible, recreating the sauna environment
Step 6. After 15 minutes, or when the tub is half full, turn off the tap and open the shower curtains
Step 7. Sit next to the tub and enjoy the steam filling the room for 15 - 20 minutes
You can lean forward slightly to inhale the steam rising from the hot water into the tub.
Step 8. Use the cold washcloth to freshen your skin from time to time when you feel the need
Take a cool or warm shower to gradually lower your body temperature.
