Do you want to have fuller lips, but don't want to spend money on surgery or buying a volumizing product? Why don't you try making one at home? All you need is some oil or petroleum jelly and a sprinkle of cinnamon. If you want a product that you can use over and over, you can also make a plumping lip balm using other ingredients, such as shea butter, vitamin E oil, and beeswax!
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Make a Simple Lip Plumping Product
Step 1. Measure a small amount of lip balm or petroleum jelly
For a single use treatment, a small amount of product should suffice. If you can't find any type of lip balm or petroleum jelly, you can also use one of the following products:
- Sweet almond oil;
- Cocoa butter;
- Coconut oil;
- Olive oil;
- Shea butter.
Step 2. Put the lip balm or petroleum jelly on a flat surface
You can use a color mixing bowl, saucer, or even a jar lid. Make sure it's clean!
Step 3. Sprinkle a sprinkle of ground cinnamon
Cinnamon is a naturally stimulating ingredient. It helps visibly plump the lips by increasing the blood supply to this area. If you can't find ground cinnamon, try using ground ginger or cayenne pepper instead. Both of these products have plumping properties.
Step 4. Mix ground cinnamon with lip balm or petroleum jelly
You can do this using the back of a spoon or the flat side of a butter knife. If you have a spatula, such as those used to decorate cakes, you can use this tool instead. Keep mixing the ingredients until you get a uniform mixture.
Step 5. Massage the plumper on your lips using your finger
If you want to prevent your finger from becoming sticky, you can apply it with a lipstick brush or a cotton swab.
Step 6. Wait 3 to 5 minutes
During the shutter speed, you will begin to feel a slight tingling in the lip area. This is completely normal and means that the plumping is working!
Step 7. Remove the conditioner with a tissue
If you want, you can proceed with the application of a lip gloss or colored lip balm of your choice.
Method 2 of 5: Prepare a Plumping and Moisturizing Product
Step 1. Measure 15g of shea butter or coconut oil and put it in a small bowl
You can also use petroleum jelly if necessary. In any case, it is preferable to use coconut oil or shea butter, as they have moisturizing properties.
Step 2. Add 4 drops of cinnamon or peppermint essential oil
Both of these essential oils are very effective for plumping lips. They volumize them by naturally stimulating the blood vessels.
Cinnamon essential oil can irritate the skin. Try mixing a drop with some coconut oil or shea butter and pat it on the inside of your elbow. If it doesn't irritate you, then go ahead
Step 3. Mix the ingredients with a toothpick
If you don't have a toothpick, you can use another small tool, such as a wand.
Step 4. Pour the mixture into a small jar, such as an empty lip balm container
You can also use one of those containers designed for storing excess paint or varnish, which are available at home improvement stores. Whichever container you decide to use, make sure it is dry and clean.
Step 5. Close the jar
The lip balm will be ready to use! If you want, you can decorate the lid with a cute label or sticker.
Method 3 of 5: Prepare a Plumping Lip Scrub
Step 1. Mix 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon in a small bowl
Mix the ingredients with a fork until smooth. These doses are enough to prepare a disposable volumizing treatment.
To make the scrub more hydrating, use 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil and 1/2 tablespoon of honey
Step 2. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar
If possible, try to use brown sugar, which will be more delicate on the lips than granulated sugar. If you prefer a stronger scrub, use 2 tablespoons of white sugar instead.
Step 3. Massage the scrub onto the moist lips
First, moisten your lips, then gently massage the exfoliant using small circular motions. If you used granulated sugar, be sure to proceed with particular delicacy.
- Sugar exfoliates the lips and makes them visibly smoother.
- Cinnamon helps stimulate the blood vessels of the lips, visibly plumping them.
Step 4. Leave the scrub on for 5 to 10 minutes to enhance its volumizing action
During the shutter speed the lips may start to pinch, which is normal. This means that the cinnamon is doing its job.
Step 5. Rinse your lips with warm water
Dab it with a clean towel or cloth after treatment.
Method 4 of 5: Make a Plumping Lip Balm
Step 1. Prepare everything you need for cooking in a double boiler
Fill a small saucepan with 3 to 5 cm of water and place a heat-resistant bowl at the top of the saucepan. Make sure the bottom of the bowl does not come into contact with the surface of the water.
Step 2. Melt 4 tablespoons of coconut oil and 1 and a half tablespoons of beeswax drops in a double boiler, setting the heat to low
Mix the beeswax and coconut oil as they melt. This will not only make them merge, it will also help you speed up their dissolution.
- If you want a thicker conditioner, use more beeswax and less coconut oil.
- If you want a softer conditioner, use less beeswax and more coconut oil.
Step 3. Remove the bowl from the saucepan and add 2 or 3 vitamin E oil capsules to the mixture you made with beeswax
Pierce each capsule with a needle, then squeeze the oil into the beeswax mixture.
If you can't find vitamin E oil capsules, you can use the one sold by the bottle. In total, you will need 3 or 4 drops
Step 4. Add 10ml of honey and 15 drops of cinnamon essential oil
Keep stirring until you get a uniform mixture. Honey will make the conditioner even more moisturizing and cinnamon will enhance its plumping properties.
Step 5. Pour the melted mixture into several clean, empty lip balm jars
If you can't find clean containers, you can buy jars designed for storing excess paint or beads at home improvement stores. You can also use a clean contact lens case.
Proceed quickly, as the mixture will start to harden within 5-10 minutes
Step 6. Wait for the conditioner to harden before closing the containers
It will take about 5-10 minutes for the conditioner to start hardening and may take 15 to 20 minutes to finish solidifying. If it takes too long, put it in the fridge or freezer for a few minutes.
Method 5 of 5: Prepare a Fast Lip Plumping Product
Step 1. Look for a tube of lip gloss
Get one with a wand applicator. Instead, avoid using squeezable lip glosses.
Step 2. Open the lip gloss tube
Set the applicator aside, preferably placing it on a plate so that the table does not become sticky.
Step 3. Add 1 or 2 drops of cinnamon or peppermint essential oil
They both have plumping properties. They help improve blood circulation in the lip area, thus helping to make them appear plumper.
Cinnamon essential oil can irritate the lips. Try mixing 1 or 2 drops with another oil (such as olive oil) and dab the mixture on the inside of your elbow. If it doesn't irritate your skin, then you can use it
Step 4. Close the tube and shake it to mix the ingredients
You can also move the applicator up and down in the tube repeatedly to mix the oil with the lip gloss.
Advice
- If you use peppermint extract, you will get a cooling effect that can reduce the itching.
- Make sure all containers and utensils are dry and clean, otherwise you risk contaminating the plumping agent.
- Don't expect the same mind-blowing results that a cosmetic surgery would give you - these are just quick methods that help lightly plump your lips.
