If you want soap bubbles to last you a long time, you need to add a moisturizing agent to the solution. In fact, you just need to mix the basic solution (made up of soap and water) with glycerin, a natural humectant substance. If you want bubbles that bounce slightly, try adding liquid sugar or corn syrup.
Ingrediants
Prepare a Glycerin Solution
- Distilled water
- Liquid dish soap
- Glycerine
Prepare a Glycerin and Corn Syrup Solution
- Liquid dish soap
- Glycerine
- Corn syrup
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Prepare a Glycerin Solution
Step 1. Get everything you need
For this solution you will need 3 ingredients: distilled water, liquid dish soap and glycerin, a natural moisturizer. When added to soap bubbles, it prevents them from drying out, and it will be more difficult for the film to burst.
Glycerin is available in pharmacies
Step 2. Mix the ingredients
In a clean container, pour 1 cup of distilled water. Add 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap and mix. Finally, add 1 tablespoon of glycerin and mix again.
Step 3. Let the solution sit
Soap bubbles improve over time. Before using them, let them sit in an airtight container for at least an hour. For optimal use, wait 24 hours.
Step 4. Gently mix the solution before using it
You can do this with your hand or a spoon. Do not shake it, otherwise the foam will be ruined.
Method 2 of 3: Prepare a Glycerin and Corn Syrup Solution
Step 1. Get everything you need
In this case you will need the following ingredients: glycerin, liquid dish soap and corn syrup. Glycerin, a natural moisturizer, will keep the bubbles from drying out, which is deleterious! Corn syrup helps make them more "sticky".

Step 2. Mix the ingredients
In a container, mix 4 parts of glycerin, 2 parts of liquid dish soap, and 1 part of corn syrup. For larger quantities, mix 4 cups of glycerin, 2 cups of liquid dish soap and 1 cup of corn syrup. For a smaller amount, mix 1 cup of glycerin, ½ cup of liquid dish soap and 60 ml of corn syrup.
Step 3. Let the solution sit
If it doesn't work right away, don't throw it away. Soap bubbles improve over time. Let them sit in an airtight container for a week.
- These bubbles may bounce off hard surfaces.
- If stored for an extended period, the solution may spoil.
Step 4. Stir the solution before use
During the processing time the ingredients separate. Before using it, mix it gently with your hand or spoon. Avoid shaking it.
Method 3 of 3: Making Soap Bubbles Last Longer
Step 1. Avoid the wind:
does not get along with soap bubbles. You can make them last longer by using them indoors, for example in a garage or classroom.
Do not use them at home. The solution could stain furniture, floors or walls
Step 2. Minimize debris
Good quality and long lasting soap bubbles do not contain foreign particles. You can limit them by using distilled or filtered water. Also, prepare the solution in a clean container.
Step 3. Use them in a humid place
Soap bubbles prefer humid environments. In addition to adding glycerin, a natural moisturizer, you can also use a humidifier to make them last longer.
Advice
- If you use a machine to make them, before each use remove the rotating bar and wash it well to remove the sticky particles left by the previous use.
- To get colored bubbles, add a few drops of food coloring. This solution can only be used outdoors.
- Make sure to completely dissolve the liquid glucose syrup.
Warnings
- The solution may leave stains.
- The addition of liquid glucose syrup makes the surfaces on which the bubbles fall rather slippery. Be careful when using the solution on tile, linoleum or parquet floors.
