Method 1 of 5: Check the severity of the block
Step 1. Take the stapler and put it upside down
Step 2. Put your finger on the metal part, slightly behind where the paper clip stopped
Step 3. Find out how much the paper clip is stuck
Use this information to determine which method to use to unlock it.
Method 2 of 5: Only the paper clip is stuck
If the paper clip is the only thing stuck, use this method.
Step 1. Put a piece of paper where the paper clip got stuck
Step 2. Find the paper clip and unlock it with the piece of paper
This may take some effort, but will eventually unlock the paperclip.
Method 3 of 5: The metal section overlapped over the stapler
Step 1. If the section of metal where the staples are inserted has overlapped on top of the stapler, try these steps:
Step 2. Bring your finger out
Step 3. Place a piece of paper between the metal and plastic parts, trying to go as deep as you can
Step 4. Pull hard to unlock the stapler
If there is a paper clip stuck, follow the steps described in the previous section.
Method 4 of 5: Inability to load staples
Step 1. If the top won't open - not allowing you to load more staples - try this method
Step 2. Take the plastic part
Step 3. Force it up
Step 4. Repeat until it opens
Step 5. Alternatively, try an iron letter opener to pry up the jammed part
Step 6. Finished
Method 5 of 5: Use a stitch remover
Step 1. Open the stapler and put it upside down
Step 2. Find one of the small holes in the silver part of the stapler
Step 3. Place one side of the staple remover so that one prong is threaded into the hole and the other is tight around the silver part of the stapler
Step 4. Squeeze and pull until the silver part comes off
Advice
- Don't steal your colleague's stapler.
- Keep the hope.
- Don't yell at the stapler.
- Be persistent.
- Use glue or tape instead of the stapler. They will work just the same.
Warnings
- Do not put your finger where the stapler is stuck.
- Do not press from top to bottom. Your index finger is on the iron.
