Have you seen a beautiful corset and tutu dress, but can't afford it? Don't worry, thanks to this simple guide you can create the perfect dress at home without being broke.
Steps
Step 1. Buy a solid color corset
The corset will need to have temples and laces on the back to create a shape. To save money, look on eBay, where you can find many models at affordable prices.
Step 2. Buy a tutu or skirt
Choose the color you prefer and try not to spend more than € 20 in total for corset and tutu.
Step 3. Get some fabric
Based on your size, buy enough fabric to wrap both tutu and corset.
Again, don't spend too much money on fabric. Now start putting all the pieces together
Step 4. Cut out the basic shape of the corset (rectangular), then sew the edges together with a sewing machine or by hand
At this point, sew the hem to the edges and if the corset has hooks, add straps (to which you will need to make the hems). Sew the template onto the corset itself to cover it completely.
Step 5. Cut out the outline of the skirt
To create a fluffy skirt, you will need four rectangular shapes. Follow the same steps for lining the corset by covering the entire skirt with fabric, then start sewing.
Step 6. Add a hem belt to the section that joins the corset to the skirt and the dress is ready
Advice
- For the material, choose a satin fabric to make it look like the dress cost a lot. If you want, use different colored fabrics as well, however, for a more elegant look it is advisable to use plain colored materials.
- Use the leftover fabric to make bows to cover uneven seams.
