Unfortunately, many people eat a diet rich in refined foods and don't get enough physical activity. This combination has given rise to a society where it is nearly impossible to maintain a normal, healthy weight. If we add the large number of extreme diets on the market to this scenario, the results are confusion and frustration for anyone trying to lose weight. In theory, the best weight loss method includes a combination of a healthy diet, exercise, adequate sleep, and reduced stress and anxiety. To start your new program on the right foot right away, you can try fasting. Fasting periods help the body eliminate toxins before the long-term diet begins and help you have better results.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Fasting to Lose Weight
Step 1. Decide how long you want to fast
The method described here must be followed for at least 5 days for it to be effective in the long term. However, avoid prolonging it for more than 20 days. You can repeat the fast more than once, but you should wait at least 10 days between extreme dieting periods.
Step 2. Get or make a psyllium drink
It is a mix designed to help the body overcome fasting, containing psyllium shells, comfrey, whey powder, marshmallow root, elm bark, echinacea, bentonite powder, shepherd's bag, wild yam, algae and myrica bark.
- You can make this drink yourself (if you are familiar with herbal remedies) or you can buy it at stores that sell organic products.
- The psyllium shell, the main component of the drink, causes satiety.
- Comfrey, whey powder, marshmallow root, and elm bark help regulate the amount and quality of mucus in your gut.
- Echinacea, shepherd's purse, myrica bark and powdered bentonite help detoxify the body and digestive system.
- Wild yam helps control bowel spasms and cramps.
- Seaweed helps regulate minerals in the digestive system.
Step 3. Start the day with psyllium mix and protein shake
Take two tablespoons of psyllium drink and two tablespoons of protein powder for breakfast each day of the fast.
You need to mix these products in a liquid. Psyllium mix is more palatable when dissolved in tomato, apple or pineapple juice
Step 4. Have lunch with a vegetable soup
Each day of your fast, you need to take 1 tablespoon of psyllium mix and 2 tablespoons of protein powder for lunch. Also eat a light soup, made with vegetables that do not contain starch.

Step 5. Add a salad to the dinner
Each day of your fast, you need to take 2 tablespoons of psyllium mix and 2 tablespoons of protein powder for dinner. Also eat a starch-free vegetable salad.
- You need to mix the psyllium mix and protein powder into a liquid. The psyllium-based mix is more palatable when dissolved in tomato, apple or pineapple juice.
- You can swap the soup and salad between lunch and dinner if you wish.
Step 6. Drink at least 12 glasses of liquid every day
It doesn't matter which drink you choose. Remember, though, that these 12 glasses should be added to the psyllium and protein powders drinks.
Step 7. Make sure you get 20 minutes of physical activity a day
To ensure your diet is effective and balanced, be sure to include 20 minutes of aerobic exercise in your daily schedule. Complete the workout in one session, do not split the exercises over the course of the day.
Method 2 of 5: Three-Day Juice Fasting
Step 1. Drink 250ml of prune juice
Do it as soon as you get up, on the first day of your fast. Wait 30 minutes and drink another 250ml of juice.
Step 2. Drink as much apple juice as possible
Until 6:00 pm on the first day of your fast, drink diluted apple juice as you like. Make this drink by mixing one part apple juice and one part distilled water. From 6pm to 9pm, don't eat anything.
Step 3. Make a special smoothie at 9pm
After drinking it, do not eat anything else until 8am the following day.
- Pour the juice of 2 oranges and 1 lemon into a blender.
- Add 5-10 tablespoons of olive oil.
- Add 1-3 cloves of finely chopped garlic (optional).
- Blend until a homogeneous consistency is obtained.
Step 4. Start the second day with a warm water enema
Do this right after you get up. Then, drink 250ml of prune juice. Follow the instructions below to apply the enema:
- Buy an enema at the pharmacy.
- Fill it with about two cups of hot tap water.
- Lie on your left side, with your knees bent at your chest.
- Before lying down or sitting down, hang the enema about 30-45 cm above the rectum.
- Remove the stopper at the end of the enema tube, then insert the end of the tube into the rectum 7.5-10cm.
- Open the enema valve and let the water flow slowly into the rectum.
- Hold the water inside your rectum for at least 15 minutes before flushing it down the toilet.
Step 5. Repeat the instructions of the first day also during the second
After your morning prune juice, start drinking diluted apple juice until 6pm. Fast completely from 6pm to 9pm. At 9:00 pm drink the special smoothie again.
Step 6. Continue with the same process on the third day
Follow the directions on the second day. Start with the warm water enema. Drink 250ml of prune juice. Drink as much diluted apple juice as you like until 6pm. Fast completely between 6pm and 9pm. Drink the special smoothie at 9pm.
Step 7. Take two "Lower Bowel Capsule" laxatives three times a day
Repeat the intake on all fasting days in the morning, afternoon and evening. Do not take any other supplements or vitamins.
- The laxatives you need to take contain cascara sagrada extract, frangula, ginger root, hydraste root, raspberry leaves, fennel seeds, Chinese rhubarb, lobelia and cayenne pepper.
- You can make the capsules yourself (if you are familiar with herbal remedies), or buy them at a herbalist's shop.
- Cascara sagrada extract, frangula and Chinese rhubarb help control colon motility, as do normal laxatives. The extract of cascara sagrada also helps tone the rectum.
- Ginger root and fennel seeds reduce intestinal pain and nausea during fasting.
- The hydraste makes the mucous membranes stronger.
- Raspberry leaves are emollient and calm the intestines.
- Lobelia helps control nerve reactions in the gut.
- Cayenne pepper promotes blood circulation.
Method 3 of 5: Follow a Lemon-Based Cleansing Fast
Step 1. Decide how long to fast
You can follow this diet for 10 days. Remember, however, that you must allow for a period of recovery from fasting. If you decide to follow the program for 10 days, it takes 5 days to return to normal nutrition. As a result, you'll need to schedule two weeks of specific meals and drinks.
- You cannot consume any food during fasting periods.
- If necessary, drink a cup of peppermint tea or vegetable broth on fasting evenings.
Step 2. Make the lemon drink
The main component of this diet is the lemon-based mix that you will need to drink every day. To make things easier, prepare enough drink for the whole day.
- Mix 2 cups of lemon or lime juice with a cup of maple syrup and at least 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper.
- Lemon or lime juice must be made from fresh produce and must not be packaged.
- Maple syrup must be grade B or C, as these varieties contain more minerals.
- You can add more than a teaspoon of cayenne pepper if you wish.
Step 3. Drink between 6 and 12 glasses of lemon drink each day
You should dilute three tablespoons of lemon drink with 250ml of water. This mixture is considered a glass of product. Drink at least 6 glasses, but if you can, you can drink more.
Step 4. For the first three mornings, give yourself a warm water enema
You can do this by following the instructions described here:
- Buy an enema at the pharmacy.

Method 4 of 5: Break the Fast
Step 1. You need some time to break a fast
You must always do it carefully and slowly. As a general rule, a number of days equal to half the duration of the diet is required. So, if you've fasted for 10 days, you need 5 to get back to normal.
Fasts exceeding 3 days are more difficult to break than short ones. This is because the body gets used to not taking in food and begins to feel much better. Eating at that point may even feel wrong to you (but remember that it is necessary)
Step 2. Begin breaking fast in the evening
The secret to breaking a fast slowly is to make sure you don't suddenly eat a large amount of food too soon. To do this, have your first meal in the evening so sleep prevents you from eating more than you should.
Step 3. Break your fast with melon
On the first day you start eating again, have breakfast with melon or another very juicy fruit. Drink diluted apple juice, grape juice, or orange juice throughout the day. For dinner, have another small slice of melon.
Step 4. Have three small meals
On the second day of recovery, have three small fruit-based meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Drink fruit juice throughout the day.
Step 5. Add vegetables to your meals
On the third day of recovery, eat fruit for breakfast. Then make a raw vegetable salad for lunch and dinner. Drink fruit juice in the morning and vegetable juice in the afternoon and evening.
Step 6. Follow the inner cleanse diet for the remaining days
From the fourth day of recovery from fasting, prepare meals according to the schedule described below.
Method 5 of 5: Follow the "Inner Cleanse" Diet
Step 1. Avoid eating certain foods for the duration of the diet
During the inner cleanse you cannot eat the following foods (unless otherwise specified): dairy products, potatoes, avocados, dried fruit, cereals, legumes, tomatoes, baked goods, eggplant, sugar, honey, maple syrup, bananas, pasta, preserved foods, meat, coffee, black tea and alcohol.
- You should take as little salt as possible.
- Do not take any vitamin or mineral supplements.
Step 2. Start the day with yogurt and fruit
Before breakfast each morning, drink a glass of hot water mixed with the juice of a whole lemon. For breakfast, drink at least 250ml of apple or grapefruit juice. Eat up to 5 tablespoons of low-fat yogurt and at least 250g of fresh fruit.
In the case of fruit juices and fresh fruit, you can exceed the specified quantities, but you cannot eat less than those quantities
Step 3. Eat a vegetable broth for lunch
Drink two cups of broth and eat a salad, with at least 8 tablespoons of raw vegetables. You can dress the salad with olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, ginger, or seaweed if you like.
Step 4. Cook some vegetables for dinner
Drink two more cups of vegetable broth and eat 3 different types of cooked vegetables (steamed or stir-fried). You can eat another salad if you like, or a slice of wholemeal bread with butter.
Step 5. Drink as much fruit juice as you like throughout the day
This diet allows you to consume all the juice you want. It also allows you to snack between meals with raw vegetables and fruit.
Don't eat fruit and vegetables within 30 minutes of your last snack
Step 6. Make a vegetable broth
Doing this is very simple and they serve the following products: 2 cups of carrots, 2 cups of potato skins, 2 cups of chard, 3 cups of celery (with leaves) and 2 cups of fresh parsley.
- If you can't find one of these vegetables, you can avoid putting it in and increase the dose of one of the other ingredients.
- Put all the vegetables in a saucepan and immerse them in distilled water. Let it simmer for 20 minutes on a stove.
- Strain the broth and discard the vegetables.
- You can add garlic, onion, other greens, miso, or other seasonings if you like.
