Throwing eggs on house walls is a very common joke. Those who have been the victim of this joke, however, know how difficult it is to remove the eggs from the walls of the house, especially once they have dried. However, with a little elbow grease and the right techniques, it is possible to solve this problem quickly and easily. Read some tips on how to remove eggs from walls below.
Steps
Step 1. Remove dirt as soon as possible
The more eggs are left on the wall, the more difficult it will be to remove the residues. Due to their pasty consistency, eggs are easier to wash off when they are still fresh. Get your cleaning tools ready as soon as you notice there are eggs on the wall of your home.
Step 2. Prepare a bucket of lukewarm water
The water does not have to be boiling, otherwise the eggs will cook and stick even more to the wall. Being protein based, eggs cook quickly (and therefore stick quickly) when exposed to heat. So to start, turn on the tap and fill a bucket with lukewarm water to remove the dirt.
Step 3. Pump the area where the eggs were thrown with a pump
Take the pump and spray the water all over the affected area. Try to wet the underside first, so the removed egg pieces will slide along the wall without further dirtying it (if that part remains dry the eggs may stick to it). After doing this, spray the water directly onto the soiled area. The water running down the wall should be enough to remove the bulk of the eggs. Avoid spraying a strong stream of water directly on the eggs to avoid making the stain even larger and making things worse.
Step 4. Use alkaline based cleaner to remove dirt
Sometimes, the only way to remove the eggs is to brush them off with a suitable cleaner. An alkaline based cleaner is perfect for this task because it helps break down the protein structure in eggs. Even household cleaners or degreasers may be sufficient. If the pH of your product is high, its alkalinity will also be high and therefore its effectiveness greater.
Step 5. Brush the soiled area well
Dip your toothbrush into the cleaner or spray the product on your toothbrush and start rubbing it on the soiled area. Use a long toothbrush or ladder to reach all affected parts. Rinse with lukewarm water and, if the dirt persists, scratch again with the toothbrush. If the eggs have dried on the wall, you will need to repeat this process several times before getting the desired result.
