Chicharons, or small pieces of fried pork rind, are a truly delicious snack. A very popular dish in Spain and Latin America, chicharon require very few ingredients and a quick and easy preparation process.
Ingrediants
- 1 kg of pork rind
- Peanut oil (choose the oil you prefer, but avoid hydrogenated and refined ones)
- 60 ml of wine vinegar for each kg of rind
Steps

Step 1. Boil the pork rind for 45 minutes in salted water

Step 2. Drain the pork and season with the vinegar

Step 3. Dry the rind using the oven
If you live in a sunny place you can decide to let it dry in the sun, or in front of an electric fan. In both cases it will take a long time.

Step 4. Fry your chicharons until they float

Step 5. If you wish, you can season the pork with pepper, or any spice mixture of your choice, before cooking

Step 6. Finished, enjoy your meal
Warnings
- Do not cook the pork rind for too long.
- Not all chicharons will have a fluffy texture.
