Steps
Method 1 of 4: Three Ways to Cook Green Beans
Step 1. Boiled green beans
- Pour water into a large pot, filling it with enough water to completely cover the vegetables.
- Bring the water to a boil over a high heat, then pour the fresh green beans into the pot, after having washed and cleaned them.
- As soon as the water boils again, lower the heat and simmer the green beans for about 4 minutes, or until they become tender, but without losing their natural crunchiness.
- Drain the green beans, season them to your taste with salt and pepper and serve them immediately.
Step 2. Steamed green beans
This cooking method is the best for preserving all the nutritional value of this vegetable.
- Pour some water into a saucepan, filling it about 2-3 cm. Place a metal steamer basket inside the pot.
- Cover the pot with the lid provided and bring the water to a boil. When the water is boiling, remove the lid from the pot and place the green beans, washed and cleaned, in the basket.
- Reduce the heat to medium and cover the pot with the lid.
- Cook for about 2 minutes, then check if the green beans are ready. They must be tender, without losing their natural crunchiness.
- Season to taste and serve immediately.
Step 3. Microwave green beans
- Pour the green beans, washed and cleaned, into a container suitable for cooking in the microwave.
- Add two tablespoons of water (30 ml) and wrap the container firmly in cling film. Make sure the foil doesn't touch the green beans.
- Cook at maximum power for about 3 minutes; then, cut the film to allow the steam created to escape.
- Check that the green beans are cooked and serve them immediately.
Method 2 of 4: Green Bean Salad
Step 1. Cook 360g of green beans using one of the methods described above
Wait for the vegetables to cool, then cut the green beans in half.
Step 2. Pour them into a medium-sized bowl
Add the tomatoes, onion and feta cheese. Mix all the ingredients together using kitchen tongs.
Step 3. In a small bowl, prepare the dressing by mixing the extra virgin olive oil, vinegar, salt and pepper
Use a whisk to mix all the ingredients; you will need to obtain a smooth and well emulsified sauce.
Step 4. Drizzle the green beans with the freshly made sauce
Stir to evenly distribute the dressing over the vegetables.
Step 5. Add salt and pepper according to your personal taste
Serve on the table.
Method 3 of 4: Baked Green Beans

Grease a deep baking sheet, using butter or extra virgin olive oil.
Step 3. In a small bowl, mix the breadcrumbs, Parmesan, and a tablespoon of butter
Step 4. In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of butter using medium heat
Add the onion and sauté it for about 3 minutes, or until it becomes translucent. At this point, pour the mushrooms into the pan and cook for another 4 minutes, or until softened. Add the green beans and mix carefully.
Step 5. Pour the chicken stock into a small saucepan
Place it over a high heat and bring the liquid to a boil.
Step 6. Pour the cornstarch into a cup containing 60ml of water
Stir carefully until the starch has completely dissolved, then add it to the hot broth. Season with salt, pepper and garlic powder, mixing carefully to combine all the ingredients. Keep stirring until the broth has thickened.
Step 7. Pour the broth into the pan with the green beans, onion and mushrooms
Add sour cream and mix thoroughly.
Step 8. Pour the vegetables into the baking sheet
Sprinkle them evenly with the breadcrumbs and Parmesan mixture and bake them for final cooking.
