Steps
Method 1 of 5: Baked Banana Chips
Step 1. Preheat the oven to 175-200 ° C
The low temperature allows a dehydrating effect as opposed to a cooking effect. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Step 2. Peel the bananas
Cut them into thin slices. Make sure they are all the same width to ensure even cooking.
Step 3. Arrange the slices in the pan in a single layer so they don't touch each other
Step 4. Add lemon juice to the top of the banana slices
This will help retain natural blackening.
Step 5. Place the pan in the oven
Cook the bananas for an hour to an hour and three-quarters. Test after an hour to see if you like cooking, otherwise let them cook a little longer.
Cooking times may vary depending on the thickness of the slices
Step 6. Remove them from the oven
Set them aside and let them cool. Banana chips will most likely be mushy, but when cooled they will harden.
Method 2 of 5: Fried banana chips
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Put them in frozen water.
Step 2. Cut it into slices
Put them back in the water once they are sliced. Add the turmeric powder.
Step 3. Leave them in the water for 10 minutes
Then drain them and place them on a clean tea towel to retain moisture.
Step 4. Heat the oil
Fry a couple of slices at a time. Use a slotted spoon to add and retrieve the slices.
Step 5. Repeat until they are finished
Step 6. Drain them by placing them on absorbent kitchen paper
Step 7. Let it cool
Once cooled, they can be served. To store them, put them in an airtight container, such as a glass container or resealable bags.
Method 3 of 5: Sweet banana chips
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Soak them in lightly salted ice water for 10 minutes (note that the salt will dissolve the cubes faster, but will stay cold).
Step 2. Slice the bananas thinly
Try to cut them as evenly as possible.
Step 3. Arrange the banana slices on a wire rack
Let it dry slightly to remove moisture.
Step 4. Heat the oil
Add the banana slices and fry for about 2 minutes or until golden brown. Use a slotted spoon to add and retrieve the slices.
Step 5. Remove them from the oil and drain on absorbent kitchen paper
Step 6. Make the sugar syrup
Add the two sugars, water and canmnella to a heavy saucepan. Cook over low heat until the sugar dissolves and thickens into a syrup. Turn off the heat.
Step 7. Dip the fried bananas in the sugar syrup
Mix it well.
Step 8. Arrange them on a wire rack covered with parchment paper
Let it cool down.
Step 9. Serve or preserve
Put them in an airtight container for storage.
Method 4 of 5: Microwave salted banana chips
Step 1. Place the bananas, whole and with their peel, in the pan
Pour in water to cover them, then bring them to a boil for 10 minutes.
Step 2. Remove them from the water
Step 3. Remove the peel
Slice them thinly. Make sure the slices are still there to avoid uneven cooking.
Step 4. Soak them in olive oil and turmeric
Add the salt.
Step 5. Arrange them in a microwave-safe flat plate or pan
In a single layer so they don't touch each other.
Step 6. Put them in the microwave
On high for 8 minutes.
- Every two minutes, stop cooking, remove the plate and flip the slices over. This will ensure even cooking on both sides.
- Be careful in the last couple of minutes to avoid burning the banana slices.
Step 7. Take them out of the microwave
Let the banana chips cool, they will be crunchy.
Step 8. Serve them
Arrange them in a small bowl. Put them in an airtight container for storage.
Method 5 of 5: Spice Flavored Banana Chips
This method requires the use of the dehydrator.
Step 1. Peel the bananas
Cut them into thin slices. The "thinness" determines the final crunchiness, so cut them as thin as possible.
Step 2. Arrange the slices in a desiccator
Make individual layers and avoid touching them.
Step 3. Sprinkle fresh lemon juice on top of the slices
You can also sprinkle your favorite spice. If possible, use fresh spices, such as grated nutmeg.
Step 4. Dehydrates at 57 ° C for 24 hours
They will be ready to remove when they are caramel colored and completely dry.
Step 5. Let them cool
Step 6. Store or serve
You can store them in an airtight jar or in resealable bags. They can be stored for up to one year.
Advice
- Ice water can be obtained by placing simple ice cubes in a bowl with water. Use a metal bowl to keep the water colder.
- Banana chips can be stored for a good period of time in airtight containers, but don't leave them too long, as they taste best when fresh.
