In order to link Pokémon FireRed with Pokémon Ruby, Emerald, and Sapphire, you will need to retrieve the Ruby and Sapphire stones within the game. The process to recover the Ruby is quite simple and straightforward, but the search for the Sapphire is more complex and will lead you to land on different islands of the "Settipelago" archipelago. After recovering both stones, you will be able to transfer your Pokemon originating from the Hoenn region to Pokémon FireRed.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Retrieve the Ruby
Step 1. Defeat the "Elite Four"
In order to retrieve the Ruby and Sapphire stones and gain access to the Hoenn region, you must complete the game by defeating the "Elite Four". To do this you will need to have earned all the "Gym Leaders" medals encountered during the game, as well as obviously having built a large team of Pokémon (which have reached at least level 60 or higher). Read this guide for tips and more details on how to defeat the "Elite Four".
Step 2. Complete the "National Pokedex"
This is another fundamental requirement in order to be able to recover the Ruby and Sapphire stones. Completing the "National Pokedex" means "simply" inserting at least 60 different species of Pokémon into your Pokedex. After meeting 60 Pokémon belonging to different species, you can go talk to Professor Oak, who will give you the "National Pokedex". This way Pokémon originating from the Hoenn region will start appearing in the game.
Step 3. Take the ferry that from the city of "Aranciopoli" will take you to "Primisola"
The first step to find the Sapphire stone is to recover the Ruby. If you haven't already, head to the Pokémon Center on Cinnamon Island and talk to Bill about your intention to visit "Sevenipelago". At the end, take the ferry that will take you from "Aranciopoli" to "Primisola".
Step 4. Talk to Celio to learn about the Ruby
You can find Celio inside the "Pokémon Telematic Center". Talk to him about the center's control unit. After telling you that to repair it he needs to get hold of the Ruby, he will give you the pass that will allow you to visit the first three islands (in case he hasn't already given it to you before).
If you haven't brought the Meteorite to Second Island yet, you must first complete this secondary objective in order to proceed further
Step 5. Head towards the "Monte Brace"
The Ruby you are looking for is located on the "Monte Brace" of "Primisola". Make sure there is one in your Pokémon team that knows the "Strength" move and one that knows the "Rock Smash" move.
Step 6. Find out the first password to access the "Rocket Warehouse"
Overhearing an interview between two representatives of "Team Rocket" regarding a treasure to be returned to their storage, you will discover that his access is protected by two passwords, one of which is accidentally revealed by one of the two Rocket recruits. The first password is the following "A nettle in Articuno". When the two recruits are gone, you can enter the cave.
Step 7. Take the path to the Ruby
To find the Ruby you have to go to level B5F located at the bottom of the cave. Access to this section of the cave is in the southwest corner of level B3F. You will find the Ruby in the center of the room on level B5F.
Step 8. Collect the Ruby and deliver it to Celio
To quickly return to Celio, go to the exit which is on level B3F. At this point Celio will inform you that, to repair the control unit, he needs a second stone and will give you a pass to be able to access all the seven islands that make up "Settipelago".
Part 2 of 2: Retrieve the Sapphire
Step 1. Reach "Quartisola"
The path to recover the Sapphire requires a stop on "Quartisola". Here you will discover the place where the "Rocket Warehouse" is located. Approaching "Quartisola", you will see your rival intent on making fun of you.
Step 2. Head to "Grotta Gelata"
The entrance to the cave is located in the northeast corner of the island. In order to land on the island, you will need to know the "Rock Smash" move. Once you enter the "Frozen Cave", you will have to pay attention to the ice plates scattered on the floor. If you stop twice on the plates, you will make them give way and you will fall downstairs.
- When you reach the north side of the first level of the cave, intentionally drop to the second.
- Take the ladder to return to the upper level, then purposely drop through the ice sheet in the new area you reached.
- Slide along the ice, then go up the ladder. After climbing the ladder, fall through the ice slab on the south side.
- Head up, then go right first and then down. Here drop again through the ice sheet you encountered. Acquire the "Waterfall" move and teach it to one of your Pokémon.
- Go up the waterfall located in the previous cave using the "Waterfall" move you just acquired. Go down the stairs you met to meet Lorelei.
Step 3. Help Lorelei defeat the "Rocket Recruit"
Fight with Lorelei against the "Rocket Recruit" to find that the location of the "Rocket Warehouse" is on "Quintisola". Unfortunately, at the moment you only know the first of the two warehouse access passwords.
Step 4. Visit "Sestisola" to find the "Crypt of Points"
The entrance to the crypt is located in the "Ancient Valley", in the southern part of the island. In order to enter the "Crypt of Points", you will have to open its door using the "Cut" move.
Step 5. Solve the riddle behind the "Crypt of Points"
The braille symbols in the crypt show the way to the room where the Sapphire is located. Alternatively, you can continue reading to find out the solution to the puzzle. You will have to fall into the holes in the "Crypt of Points" following a precise order:
- The braille symbols show the direction you will need to take from time to time.
- Here is the solution to the crypt enigma: take the first tunnel at the top, then take the one on the left, then the one on the right and finally the one below.
Step 6. Try to get the Sapphire to know the second password to access the "Rocket Warehouse"
After solving the "Crypt of Points" riddle, you will have access to the room in the center of which is the Sapphire. When you try to get hold of the stone, a member of Team Rocket will suddenly pop out and steal it. During the excitement of the moment, you will get hold of the second password to access the "Rocket Warehouse".
Step 7. Head to "Quintisola"
This is where the "Rocket Warehouse" is located. Having both access passwords you will finally be able to regain possession of the Sapphire
Step 8. Log into the "Rocket Warehouse"
The warehouse is located near the city. To locate the Sapphire inside the building, you'll need to navigate an intricate path of conveyor belts. In reality, the path to follow inside the warehouse is quite simple and straightforward, but it is worth going all the possible ways to collect all the objects present and fight against all the trainers you meet.
Step 9. Retrieve the Sapphire from Gideon
After you have walked your path and defeated all the Grunts and Rocket Generals, you will be able to meet the scientist Gideon. After you defeat his 5 Pokémon, he will deliver the Sapphire to you, then you can return it to Celius on "Prime Island". You will then be able to trade your Pokémon with those from the Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald series.
