Many Pokémon fans were amazed when they discovered that the old method of catching Regirock, Regice, and Registeel didn't work in Emerald. Thanks to this article you will learn how to find them. Note that it can take a lot of tries to catch a Legendary Pokémon.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Unlocking the Legendaries
Step 1. Create your team
You need a Pokémon that knows Pit, a Relicanth as the last monster, and Wailord as the first. A translator from braille can also be useful, because you will encounter many runes written with that alphabet; however, you can continue without reading those messages.
Step 2. Fly to Orocea
This city of logs and stilts is located in the middle of the ocean, so you'll need to swim before you can fly to it.
Step 3. Follow the currents east of Orocea
You'll see a square area of water on Route 134 where currents collide and you can dive into. If you have Wailord on your team, you can use his Sub move.
Step 4. Enter the cave
Once at the bottom, you will see the entrance to a cave in front of you. Cross it, then follow the path.
- Follow the path to the bottom of the screen. You will see a large stone appear with Braille writing. When you interact with the writings, you will be prompted to use Sub with Wailord again.
- You will appear in a room that is not submerged.
Step 5. Run to the north wall of the room
You will see another braille writing.
Step 6. Use Fossa
Open your squad screen and use the Pit move.
The message "Do you want to escape from here and go back Underwater?" Will probably appear. Answer "Yes" to continue
Step 7. Enter the "Engraved Room"
When you use Pit, the entrance to a cave will appear. Go through it and you will see "Engraved Room" in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Continue north to the next braille and press TO to read it. If Wailord is your first Pokémon and Relicanth is your last, you should unleash an earthquake and the doors to the caves where the Regi reside should open.
- Save the game, so you don't have to open doors again.
Part 2 of 2: Capturing the Legendaries
Step 1. Capture Regirock in the Sandy Ruins
They are found in the lower desert near Cyclamen City on Route 111.
- Go to the braille writing in the north part of the cave and read it with TO. Continue taking two steps to the left, two steps down, then use Rock Smash.
- Save before the fight so you can try again if you fail to capture Regirock.
Step 2. Capture Regice in the ruins on Route 105
You will see "Island Cave" appear in the upper left corner of the screen when you are in the right place.
- Go to the braille writing on the north wall and read it by pressing TO. Always staying close to the wall, complete a counter-clockwise tour of the entire cave (walking, running, or biking). Once done, a cave will appear in the north wall that you can enter.
- Save before the fight so you can try again if you fail to capture Regice.
- Regice knows the Icy Wind move, which reduces your Pokémon's speed. You can use a monster with Yawn to cancel this effect.
Step 3. Capture Registeel in the ruins on Route 120
You will find them in the center of the tall grass fields. The message "Ancient Tomb" will appear in the upper left corner of the screen.
- Go to the braille writing on the north wall and press TO to read it.
- Proceed to the center of the room and use Flash.
- Save before the fight so you can try again if you fail to catch Registeel.
Step 4. Remember to save the game before turning off your Game Boy Advance or Nintendo DS
Advice
- If you haven't already explored Route 134, take a powerful Pokémon with electric moves with you so you can easily beat all trainers.
- Take 50 Ultra Balls and 50 Timer Balls with you when you catch Regi. Make them as weak as possible and fall asleep to increase the chances of success.
- It is easier to catch a sleeping Pokémon.
- Weaken the Regi until their health turns red, then start using moves that change their status. At that point, use the Timer balls, which become more powerful as the turns go by.
- All Regi know the Curse, Troppoforte, Forzantica moves and their special moves.
