Siri is one of the coolest features of the latest iOS devices. Siri is smart, knowledgeable and will always listen to you - responding with humor! This article will introduce you to Siri, and show you how to access its functions and features.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Part One: Sign in to Siri
Step 1. Press and hold the Home button
You will hear two beeps and see "How can I help you?" on the screen, above a silver microphone icon.
- If you are using an iPhone 4S or later, when your screen is unlocked you can simply hold the phone to your ear to activate Siri.
- Using a Bluetooth headset, press and hold the call button to activate Siri.
- If you're using a remote, headphones, and microphone, press and hold the remote's center button to talk to Siri.
- Cars with the Eyes Free feature offer a Siri activation button on the steering wheel.
Step 2. Start talking
You will see that the microphone icon lights up - this will indicate that you are connecting to Siri. When you have finished speaking you will hear two beeps and you will be able to read what you just said. Siri will respond based on your question or order.
- For example, if you ask "What time is it?" Siri will respond by telling you the time. You can also ask "What time is it in Brazil?".
- If you say "Play jazz" Siri will open iTunes and play your jazz playlist.
Method 2 of 2: Part Two: Using Siri
Step 1. Use Siri often
Siri adapts to your voice, accent and dialogue patterns, so the more you use it, the more accurate its responses will be.
Step 2. Talk to your apps
Siri can interact with almost any of Apple's built-in apps, and with Twitter, Wikipedia, Facebook and others.
- For example, you can ask Siri "How to reach Verona", and she will access the Maps, find a route and give you directions.
- You can use it to search for nearby restaurants, to make appointments, or to call your mom.
Step 3. Use Location Services
If you turn them on, you can use Siri to remind you of events or reminders, depending on your location.
For example, if you need to stop by the grocery after work, turn on Siri and say "Remind me to stop by the grocery after work." When you walk out the door, Siri will ring and show you the reminder
Step 4. Dictate to Siri
On all iOS devices that support Siri, you can dictate what you want to write to her. Press the microphone button on the keyboard and start speaking. When you are done press "Done" and Siri will transcribe your words into text.
Advice
- Speak naturally. Siri is programmed to understand normal conversations between humans, and can interpret implied meanings.
- Ask Siri anything. He will understand and answer all kinds of questions. For example, if you ask Siri "Who is your father?" he will answer "Steve Jobs is my father" or "It must be an important question, because everyone asks me".
