Updating a computer's video card drivers can be helpful in solving some software problems and, in general, improving your experience as a user. In most cases, you can perform the update either automatically or manually.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Automatic Update (Windows)
Step 1. Access the "Start" menu by clicking on the appropriate button
Step 2. Type the keyword "update" into the search bar and select the "Windows Update" icon from the list of results
The Windows "Control Panel" will appear.
Step 3. Click on the "Check for Updates" button located in the left pane of the "Control Panel"
A list of all available updates will be displayed.
Step 4. Check the list of updates for hardware updates
Updates for the video card are also included in this list.
Step 5. Select the check button for the video card drivers that need to be updated, then click the "OK" button
Step 6. Click on the "Install Updates" button
Windows will automatically update your computer's graphics card drivers.
Method 2 of 3: Manual Update (Windows)
Step 1. Click on the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel" item
Step 2. Click on the "System and Security" link, then click on the "Device Manager" item
Step 3. Go through the list of categories of hardware devices on your computer until you find the name of the video card
Step 4. Double click on the graphics card name
Step 5. Click the "Driver" tab, then click the "Update Driver" button
Step 6. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the manual update of your computer's video card drivers
Method 3 of 3: Update Video Card Drivers on Mac
Step 1. Access the "Apple" menu by clicking on the appropriate icon, then choose the "App Store" item
If you are using an older version of the Mac operating system, you will need to select the "Software Update" option
Step 2. Click on the "Updates" tab displayed at the top of the "App Store" window
A list of all available updates will be displayed.
Step 3. Click on the "Update All" button or click on the "Update" button located to the right of the "Software Update" item
The computer will update the video card drivers if necessary.
