Facebook is great for keeping in touch with friends, family, schoolmates, co-workers, etc. However, there are people who inspect your profile for a different purpose, which could have employment, criminal and so on consequences.
Steps
Step 1. Don't overdo the games
Facebook is for keeping in touch with your friends, not just hanging around all day. It is normal to be tempted to play and maybe even get carried away a little, but don't add too many games: they can be really annoying, as they often send notifications to their contacts.
Step 2. Pay attention to your status:
try not to tell everything you do. If you want to tell your friends something or something good has happened to you, go ahead. For example, you gave up your afternoon nap to watch your favorite team's match. Also, do not fill the news feed associated with games and applications, unless they are of interest to your friends. Try to focus on your hobbies and the topics you share with your contacts, not random things.
Step 3. Don't overdo the interests:
if you indicate that you like 20 million bands, it will seem like you have too much time to waste. Narrow the list to your favorite bands of all time or to certain genres. Focus on your favorites, not everything you like even the slightest bit.
Step 4. Don't overdo the quotes
If your friend said a witty phrase (or you did), share it. But if you just mention people, you risk appearing as a gossip.
Step 5. Be honest about your political ideologies
In reality, it would be better not to give information about it, unless you are an official member of a religious cult or associated with a particular political party.
Step 6. Never give your full date of birth, otherwise you risk identity theft
Step 7. Be honest about your relationship situation
Don't say you're busy unless you have a boyfriend or girlfriend. Don't say you're married unless you have a marriage certificate. "It's complicated" shouldn't be used for crushes.
Step 8. Be careful with contact information and privacy:
you may be tracked down by people you don't want to have anything to do with.
Step 9. Do not post images depicting alcohol or drugs:
it's a bad idea, not to mention that it could be detrimental to your job and your criminal record. The best photos are those that show you with your best friend or alone while pursuing a hobby.
