This article explains how to search for results on a specific website using Google. You can use this feature to view a list of results that are only found within the website in question. Alternatively, if you use Google Chrome, you can search directly on sites that have built-in search capabilities.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Use Google
Step 1. Log in to Google
Visit https://www.google.com/ using your preferred browser.
Step 2. Click on the search bar
It is located in the center of the page.
Step 3. Indicate that you want to search within a particular site
Type site: in the search bar.
Step 4. Enter the site address without adding the initial part (ie "www")
The site should be inserted immediately after the site tag:, with no spaces in between.
For example, to do a search on Facebook, you would write: site: facebook.com
Step 5. Press the space bar
This will insert a space between the website address and the one you write later.
Step 6. Enter a term or phrase to search
You should write one or more words related to what you want to search for on the indicated website.
For example, if you want to search for "puppies for sale" on Facebook, the search would be formulated as follows: site: facebook.com puppies for sale
Step 7. Press Enter
This will start the search. Once the page has loaded, you should see results containing only elements that match your search and are located on the indicated website.
Method 2 of 2: Using Google Chrome
Step 1. Open
Google Chrome.
Click once or twice on the application icon, which is a red, yellow, green and blue sphere.
Step 2. Click on the address bar
This text box is located at the top of the browser window.
If there is any writing in the address bar, remove it before proceeding
Step 3. Enter the website address
This should be the address of the site you want to search on. Be sure to include the "www" section in this case.
For example, to do a search on Facebook, you should type www.facebook.com
Step 4. Find the "Press tab to search" message
On the far right of the address bar, you should see a message inviting you to press the Tab key to search on the indicated site.
If you don't see this message, you won't be able to search the site from the Google Chrome address bar. You can still use Google to search within a site
Step 5. Press the Tab key
If you see the message "Press tab to search", pressing this key will open a bar where you can start a search on the website indicated.
Step 6. Type the term or phrase you want to search for
You should write words related to what you want to search for on the site.
Step 7. Press Enter
By doing so, a search will be started for the term or expression you entered on the website indicated. You can then review the search results as needed.
