This article explains how to insert Bitmoji characters into conversations, messages and posts on social networks using the Bitmoji Keyboard for iPhone.
Steps
Part 1 of 2: Setting up the Keyboard
Step 1. Install Bitmoji on the iPhone
If you have not already done so, the application can be downloaded for free from the App Store. That's how:
- Open the App Store (the icon looks like a white A on a blue background and is on the Home screen).
- Tap the magnifying glass icon at the bottom of the screen to search for the application.
- Type "Bitmoji", then select the application from the search results.
- Tap "Get", then "Install".
Step 2. Create a Bitmoji character
If you have already installed and set up the application, you can skip this step and configure the keyboard, otherwise:
- If you are still on the App Store page dedicated to the Bitmoji app, tap "Open". Alternatively, open the application by tapping the icon on the main screen: it shows a smiley face winking.
- If you already have a Bitmoji account, tap "Sign in" and enter your details. If not, select "Log in via Snapchat" (if you use this application) or "Log in via Email" to create an account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to create a character. The process is quick and easy.
Step 3. Open the iPhone settings
The icon looks like a gray gear and is usually found on the home screen.
Step 4. Tap General
Step 5. Scroll down and tap Keyboard
It is located towards the central part of the list.
Step 6. Tap Keyboards
It is the first option.
Step 7. Tap Add New Keyboard…
This option is located at the bottom of the screen. If you already have a lot of keyboards installed you will need to scroll down to locate it.
Step 8. Tap Bitmoji
Step 9. Swipe "Allow Full Access" to activate the button, which will turn green
A pop-up window will appear to warn you that third-party keyboards (such as Bitmoji) may steal your data. Since this is a secure app, please give permission.
Step 10. Tap Allow
This way the Bitmoji keyboard will have access to your iPhone and be ready to use.
Part 2 of 2: Using the Keyboard
Step 1. Open any app that allows you to use a keyboard
You can use the Bitmoji Keyboard in most social applications, including Messages, Facebook Messenger, Twitter, and WhatsApp.
Step 2. Tap the text box to bring up the keyboard
Step 3. Touch and hold the globe
It is located next to the "123" icon at the bottom of the keyboard. A list of keyboards will appear.
Step 4. Select Bitmoji
The Bitmoji keyboard will appear, presenting your character in different contexts and characterized by various emotions.
Step 5. Tap a Bitmoji to select it
Just like emojis, Bitmojis are also grouped into categories. Select one using the gray icons at the bottom of the keyboard (or swipe right), then scroll down to see all the Bitmojis included in that category. When you tap a Bitmoji, the image will appear in the message or post, ready to be shared.
