If you are having trouble contacting someone via WhatsApp, it could be because they blocked you. Unfortunately there is no method to understand for sure if a user has blocked you on WhatsApp (it is an aspect of WhatsApp that was intentionally designed by the developers to protect the privacy of users), but there are indicators that can confirm your hypothesis. However, keep in mind that WhatsApp allows users to disable features such as "Last Accessed" and "Online" statuses - this means it is possible that whoever you think blocked you may have simply restricted their privacy.
Steps
Step 1. Select the Chat tab
It is located at the bottom of the screen. You'll see a list of all the conversations you've participated in.
Step 2. Tap the chat of the person you think may have blocked you
The list of messages you have exchanged with this person will be displayed.
Being able to view the conversation and text another user doesn't mean you don't notice he's blocked
Step 3. Check if the user is online
If the person being tested is using WhatsApp at this very moment, you will see the "Online" indicator appear at the top of the screen next to their username. If the "Online" indicator is not visible, there are two possible scenarios: the person in question is not actually using WhatsApp at this precise moment or has blocked you.
Just because you can't see if someone is online doesn't mean they've blocked you; Remember, WhatsApp keeps blocking signals quite ambiguous to protect users' privacy
Step 4. Look for your last login information
If the user is not currently online, the "Last Accessed" indicator should be visible at the top of the screen followed by the date and time of the last time they used WhatsApp. If this information is not visible, it means that the user may have disabled this feature to protect his privacy. However, it could also indicate that it has blocked you.
If you and the suspect have a mutual friend, you might ask them if they can see the last login. If it confirms to you that the suspect did not disable that feature, then it is very likely that you have reason to think that you have been blocked
Step 5. Check for two check marks next to the messages you have sent
When you send a message to someone who hasn't blocked you, there should be two small check marks next to the sending time: the first indicates that the message was sent successfully, while the second confirms that it was delivered to the recipient. If the second check mark is not displayed, the cause could be that there is no signal on the device of the message recipient or that the WhatsApp app has been uninstalled.
Step 6. Notice if there are any changes in your profile
Tap the name displayed at the top of the chat screen to access their profile. If you've been blocked, the person's WhatsApp profile for you will remain unchanged. If you have reason to believe that he has changed his status or profile picture, but you do not see these changes, it is very likely that he has blocked you.
Step 7. Try calling the user via WhatsApp
Tap the phone handset icon in the upper right corner of the chat to try to contact him by phone. If the call is not made, it could be a concrete clue that the user has blocked you. However, it could simply mean that it has disabled voice calls via the privacy settings.
Advice
- Remember that when you block a user on WhatsApp, your contact information is not deleted from their phone book and neither is theirs from yours.
- The only way to delete a user from WhatsApp contacts is to delete them from the device's address book.
