You know that satisfying feeling that envelops you when you are able to express your emotions through words? Do you ever have an impulsive grasp of pen and paper and write down the flow of thoughts in your mind? These are just some of the signs that you are destined to be a writer. But where to start?
Steps
Step 1. Free writing builds self-confidence
It allows you to assimilate the only true rule of writing: "it is a means of expression".
Step 2. Master the correct use of grammar and punctuation
We all make mistakes - it doesn't matter. The only thing that makes a mistake really unacceptable is that you haven't learned something. Take a language course. The internet can help you too, but look for reputable sites. Practice your editorial skills in your daily writings.
Step 3. Reading is the other side of writing
Writing is the other side of reading. As you can see, reading and writing complement each other. You are not a writer if you do not appreciate the help that reading gives you. Reading gives you the information you need to be able to make sense of the words you put together as you write. And there is nothing to read, if there is nothing written. In addition, if you read, you will automatically introduce yourself to the world of writing. So don't separate this very powerful couple.
Step 4. Look for inspiration
Take a walk, do things you've never done before, in a nutshell: seize the day! Inspiration is everywhere.
Step 5. Choose your field
At this point, you should know what gender to do. What do you think about collaborating with your favorite newspaper? To be the new J. K. Rowlings, start writing short stories. Make drafts, and only then correct them. Try to negotiate with possible publishers or try self-publishing if you want.
Step 6. Always be original
Never steal the work of others. Learn the right way to cite sources. You don't write just to do it. You write with integrity and professionalism.
Step 7. Start a blog
Promote the things you write. Be open to criticism. Treat them as something that will improve you. By writing on a blog you can also interact with your audience.
Step 8. Be patient
The big break may only happen after you've spilled a lot of ink. But as long as you feel the passion coursing through your veins, you'll be fine.
Warnings
- Sometimes we believe we have found the right path, the one destined to remain for life. But at some point, when you reach the end of the path, you may think you have made a mistake. If writing isn't really for you, don't be disappointed. On the contrary, be thankful for all the things you have learned. Overcome the disappointment, and welcome a new beginning.
- A career as a writer does not ensure economic stability. One tip would be to make writing a part-time job and find a job that gives you a higher pay.
