When asked, many people reply that they would like to be accepted into Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If your friend is one of them, then creating a Harry Potter-like acceptance letter to deliver will make their day unforgettable. And for anyone who has children, this can be especially special if given to a child on their 11th birthday.
Steps
Step 1. Find the necessary material
These things are listed at the bottom under "Things You Will Need".
Step 2. Choose a suitable font
The font needs to be realistic, one that looks like it came from Hogwarts. You can download fonts like these - do a simple search by typing "Harry Potter font" and see which one works best on your operating system.
Likewise, look for a suitable image of the Hogwarts crest. This can also be found by doing an internet search and then saving the image to your computer
Step 3. Start writing the letter
If you don't know what to write, find a copy of the first book and copy the letter, or search for a copy of the letter on the internet. Use emerald green ink. The letter received from Harry Potter was written on a sheet of parchment in emerald green ink.
- Replace Harry's address with that of your friend and instead of "closet under the stairs" enter a description of his room, such as "very messy room" or "corner without windows".
- Also replace "Deputy Director" under McGonagall's name with "Director", as she is now the director, since Dumbledore was killed and Snape was fired and killed.
Step 4. Print the letter
You can also edit the envelope. It is best to print the emblem on the envelope on the left side in the top corner (or print the emblem and paste it). After that, write your friend's address on the envelope. Make sure you use your best handwriting or get someone to help you with good writing. If you can write well, it's time to get down to business. Also enter the Hogwarts return address under the crest (or in the back of the envelope, where it is more common to find it).
If you want, you can make the letter look old before folding it and putting it in the envelope. To find some ideas, check out How to make paper look old or How to age paper using tea
Step 5. Deliver the letter
Think of creative ways to deliver the letter. You could slip it through a pile of birthday cards, slip it into a friend's locker, or leave it hanging in mid-air in a room.
- One creative way is to make an origami owl shape - you can find an intuitive design by searching for "origami owl bookmark" and clicking on the result given by Activity TV. Put the letter in the owl's "beak", where you would normally place the page. Then put the owl on the witch / wizard's desk or backpack, etc.
- Another way is to offer to take the mail when you go to your friend's house and put the letter in the pile. If you are a good actor, you pretend to be amazed when you find the letter or you say something absent-mindedly like "What is this?" and give it to your friend.
- Or simply send it by post. It's less magical, but people love getting mail.
Step 6. Finished
Advice
- If you're feeling particularly nice, include a Hogwarts gift, such as a Harry Potter tie, pin, golden snitch, time turner, etc.
- If you do not send the letter, do not enter the return address, as it is in the chapter "Letters from anyone", which means that there is no return address.
- It is better for someone else to write the address on the envelope, unless you are good enough to hide that it is your writing.
- Don't try to have a real owl deliver the letter. They scratch, bite and are usually not very cooperative.
- On the letter, use a font that gives the impression that the letter was handwritten by someone with good writing.
- As an alternative to sealing the letter by licking or peeling off the adhesive strip from the back of the envelope, try making a real seal. You simply need to find a metal ring and a button / press with a hake or other symbols engraved on it. Make sure the button fits snugly inside the ring. Light a red candle and let the wax melt (5-10 minutes) and pour it into the metal ring. Wait for it to settle and then press the button inside to engrave the wax. It is helpful to have a piece of blotting paper on the back of the paper you are sealing (to prevent it from leaking). Make sure you allow the wax and button to cool for at least two minutes before removing the button and ring (GENTLY). Do not mail a letter sealed with wax.
