You are exploring a truly fantastic cave system, and you find tons of coal, iron and gold. You dig another block and jump when the lava begins to gush. You step back and you do not realize that you are on the edge of an escarpment, and you fall. When you land you drink some potion to recover, and that's when you notice strange shadows, a low roar on one side, a hiss on the other … you realize you are not alone!
Does it remind you of anything? Are you having trouble killing those monsters? This article will teach you various fighting techniques used by experienced players to eliminate monsters from the game forever!
Steps
Method 1 of 19: Preparation
Step 1. Get a sword of any type (preferably diamond), and armor
You need a bow and maybe a couple of tame wolves. Better to have some torches too. If possible, make sure to charm your weapons.
Step 2. Select the difficulty level Easy (Easy) or higher if you haven't already done so
Put the weapons, food and potions in your hotbar and place torches around you.
Step 3. When the mobs start to spawn, unleash your weapons and get ready for battle
Step 4. Learn to take critical hits
Jump and turn or sprint and hit. Critical Damage comes when you fall. Try to make sure you hit the mob as you fall after the jump.
Method 2 of 19: The Zombie
The Zombie is the easiest hostile mob to fight. Walk towards you slowly and burn in the sunlight.
Step 1. Walk over to the Zombie and let it approach you
When he is two blocks away, give a critical hit (jump and hit). You don't have to run away after hitting it as it is very slow.
Step 2. Repeat the move until the Zombie dies
Look around and make sure there are no other mobs. Be careful because every time you hit a Zombie it is possible that another nearby will appear. Collect experience points and dropped things, such as rotten meat. Try not to eat rotten meat as it could poison you. If you are poisoned, stay where you are as long as you are better, so as not to decrease the food (or hunger) bar.
Step 3. If you are fighting several Zombies at the same time run towards them and left click
This will cause them to go back several blocks. Also, if it's focused on you, a Zombie won't attack one of your wolves that's attacking it.
Method 3 of 19: Spider (Spider)
The Spider is much more dangerous than the Zombie even though it has less life. He can climb walls and jump during the attack. They are passive during the day, unless you attack them. Does not fit into 1x1 spaces.
Step 1. Let the Spider approach
Be careful: he can jump and climb walls. Give it a shot while running to push it back.
Step 2. Keep moving forward and keep clicking the left button in the direction of the Spider
You will have some damage but you will also have the possibility to give a run hit and then a critical hit.
Step 3. Look around and make sure there are no other mobs
Collect experience points and any dropped items, such as threads or spider eye. You can brew spider eye and use it to make a potion, or eat it if needed. It will poison you for 4 seconds but only lower your life by half a heart, and life will regenerate if the food bar is still full.
Method 4 of 19: The Skeleton
Skeletons have bows. If you are far away it is easy enough to dodge the arrows, but if you are close it is more difficult. They catch fire if exposed to sunlight.
Step 1. If possible, hit the Skeleton with your bow
Otherwise run towards him in a zigzag and give a critical hit.
Step 2. Reach for it and click quickly
Try to block the arrows (right click) when you are close, as you will not be able to dodge them now. Figure out when he will fire the arrows based on how he did it before.
Step 3. Collect experience points and all dropped items, such as bones and arrows
Step 4. Don't run in zigzags
The Skeleton is too fast to avoid its arrows and you could become a target for other mobs like the Creeper.
Method 5 of 19: The Creeper
The Creeper is dangerous at night. Their navigation AI is very good, and they explode when you get too close. Sunlight does not harm them. They make no noise when they walk and camouflage, so they are very dangerous.
Step 1. If you have a bow, use it to kill the Creeper
If you don't have a bow, use your sword: advance, strike, and immediately retreat.
Step 2. Repeat
If the Creeper starts flashing and getting bigger, move away until it stops or explodes. If you kill him, you collect experience points and items, such as gunpowder.
Step 3. There is also the Electro-Creeper
If a Creeper is struck by lightning, it has a blue halo around it. When it explodes it has double the explosive potential of the normal Creeper. The Electro-Creeper kills itself like the normal Creeper.
Method 6 of 19: The Spider Jockey
Spider Jockey is very dangerous. It is created when a Skeleton rides a Spider. Spider Jockeys are to be avoided because they only have Spider and Skeleton items. When a Spider spawns, there is a 1% chance that a Spider Jockey will appear.
Step 1. Try to delete the Skeleton first
Right click in his direction and try to hit on the run, and block immediately after. Once you kill the Skeleton attack the Spider.
Step 2. Kill the Spider in the usual way
Collect experience points and items.
Method 7 of 19: The Enderman
Endermen are tall and black. They can teleport and deal a lot of damage. However, water damages them and they usually die when it rains.
Step 1. Find the Enderman
Don't look him in the eye (float the cross over his upper body). There are three ways to kill the Enderman.
Step 2. Run towards him
Jump and crit hit, and keep hitting him. If he teleports, he looks for the particle trail that will take you to his location, which will likely be behind you. Repeat and kill.
- If you don't have good armor, get tame wolves (at least five). Give it a critical first hit, then let the wolves kill it. Feed the wolves, who will probably have been injured by the Enderman.
- If you hit the Enderman's feet he won't be able to teleport.
Step 3. Go into the water and look him in the eye
The Enderman will try to teleport to you, but will be damaged by the water and will teleport. Repeat until it dies.
Step 4. You can also build a 1x1x2 construction and then attach it
The Enderman cannot reach you, so it cannot harm you. Or you can build a 4 block high pole and you can attack the Enderman but he won't be able to attack you because you will be out of his reach. Watch out for Spiders and Skeletons that might knock you off the pole.
Step 5. Collect the experience points, and if you are lucky the Ender Pearl will fall
To increase this chance use a sword with the plunder spell.
Method 8 of 19: Chicken Jockey
The chicken jockey is a baby zombie or a zombie pigman who rides a hen. Baby zombies do not burn when exposed to sunlight, and the hen cannot be tied to a fence.
Step 1. Don't try to drop it off a mountain; the monster that is tormented would take all the damage of the fall and the hens would fly, landing without taking any damage
Step 2. If you are playing version 1.7.10 or earlier you can use the chicken eggs to make the monster back away
Method 9 of 19: Slime (The Mucous)
Slimes live underground. They appear only in large areas or in the swamp environment. New players rarely encounter Slime.
Step 1. Approach the Slime and give many critical hits
Be careful when you kill a big one because it will split. After you kill him go back a little bit. Be aware that each is divided into smaller ones. It practically multiplies.
- When you encounter a small slime, a sword blow will be enough to kill it, but it is better to use your fist: they are so weak that the sword is not worth wasting. Babies cause no harm. They drop slime balls.
- A medium slime will split into smaller slimes. Kill the little ones, medium slimes do light damage.
- A large slime will split into medium slimes. Large slimes do moderate damage.
Step 2. Collect the items, which are usually Slime balls, and experience points
Method 10 of 19: Silverfish
The Silverfish is a small mob that can be encountered in the three Strongholds. They appear from blocks dug by the player. If you break the spawn block the Silverfish will jump out and attack you, as will any other Silverfish you encounter during the fight.
Step 1. Punch the block
If it seems to break too easily, stop, as it contains a Silverfish. If it doesn't, you're safe.
Step 2. Put some TNT near the block and blow it up
This way the Silverfish won't attack you.
Step 3. If the place is teeming with Silverfish you have four options
You can try to kill them with the sword, but as they are small and fast this is not suitable for novice players.
- Turn around and run until you are within a safe distance. Block the way you came with dirt, Come back later.
- You can also lay two blocks of land on top of each other, camp up there, and fight the Silverfish with a bow or a sword.
- Or go to an elevated place (at least two blocks) and put some lava under you. This should stop the Silverfish chasing you.
- Climb up one of the Stronghold's stairs and pour a bucket of water to sweep them away. The flow of water will keep them away.
Step 4. Walk into the Stronghold
Collect experience points, if any.
Method 11 of 19: Pigman Zombie (Zombie Pig)
The Pigman Zombie is a mob found in the Nether. They travel in groups, carry menacing swords, and if you don't attack them they remain neutral. If you attack one, all Zombie Pigmen within 16 blocks become aggressive. The Pigman Zombie can also appear in the normal world when a pig is struck by lightning, although this almost never happens. Zombie Pigmen are fast, so get ready to escape!
Step 1. Look around and see where the Zombie Pigmen are
Attack one with a critical hit. Try fighting in the third person.
Step 2. Go to one side of the Zombie Pigman
Don't rush to not attract other Pigmen. Be careful where you walk: a misstep could make you fall into the lava. Don't let them surround you.
Step 3. Run and hit all the nearby Zombie Pigmen
The best sword in this case is the Knockback II, because if you run too far you will be cornered. Make the Pigmen move in a circle and hit them. Don't stray too far or you'll attract others.
Step 4. Kill the Pigmen one by one
Collect experience points and the items they drop, such as rotten meat and gold nuggets.
Method 12 of 19: Blaze
Blazes are other Nether mobs. They are usually found in Nether fortresses near their monster spawner. They are very difficult to fight. They can fly and fire relentless fire charges three at a time. They are usually killed for Blaze's rods, used to make Ender's eyes and Blaze's dust.
Step 1. Enchant your bow
If you want a quick fight, this step is practically mandatory. The bow is one of the easiest ways to kill a Blaze, as they can fly. Also get some snowballs and pumpkins. You should keep your snowballs as blocks of snow, it also saves time.
Step 2. If you have a still you can brew fire resistant potions that will make you invulnerable to the blaze's fire (and lava) attacks
Step 3. Once you reach the monster generator select the "Peaceful" difficulty
Place snow golems all around (two blocks of snow and a pumpkin). Also build a small stone wall three blocks high. It doesn't have to be long, and it has to have a small roof.
Step 4. Stand behind the wall and select "Easy" or higher difficulty
Start loading your bow. Don't try to hit the Blaze before the bow is fully charged.
Step 5. Quickly move off the wall with the fully loaded bow and shoot arrows at the Blaze
Make sure you stand near the end of the wall so you can hide quickly. If you find a Blaze waiting for you, kill it with snowballs.
Step 6. Shoot the arrows at the Blazes
Go behind the wall and reload the bow. Repeat until the Blazes are all dead.
Step 7. Collect experience points and items
You may have to build the path to the object for the Blazes to fly. Select the "Peaceful" difficulty. Rebuild any destroyed snow golems and continue.
Method 13 of 19: the cave spiders
Cave Spiders are poisonous spiders that spawn only underground from monster spawners. They are smaller than normal Spiders and are blue. Normal Spiders are black or dark brown, larger, and are NOT poisonous. Note that Skeletons can ride Cave Spiders.
Step 1. Watch out for holes and cracks
Cave Spiders are much smaller than regular Spiders, and can fit through any crack. This makes them much more difficult to trap and fight however you want. Cave Spiders can also track you through walls, so it's hard to ambush them.
Step 2. Heal from poisonous attacks
Unlike regular Spiders, Cave Spiders have a venomous bite. If you have been poisoned, your life will diminish as long as you are left with only half a heart. You can detox from poison by drinking milk, but it will take some time. Try to use milk between fights.
Step 3. Choke the spiders
Cave Spiders can hold their breath for 16 seconds, and die after another 6 seconds. If you can flood or bury the spiders you should be able to kill them quite easily.
Step 4. Destroy the monster generator
Cave Spiders are spawned only by monster spawners, so destroying the generator will prevent more from spawning.
Step 5. Watch out for cobwebs
Monster spawners are often surrounded by lots of cobwebs. These will slow you down but do not affect the Cave Spiders' movements. Use a flashlight to burn the canvas, so you have room to maneuver.
Method 14 of 19: The Ghasts
Ghasts are mobs that fly across the Nether. They look like large floating squid, shooting explosive fireballs at the player. At first they did little damage, but can now kill with a couple of hits. They have a huge range and can see you from a distance of 128 blocks.
Step 1. Aim for the tentacles
For some reason the arrows directed to the face go through them without doing any damage. They have a low health level, but can be difficult to kill because they can attack from 16 blocks away, which makes them difficult to hit.
Step 2. Try to avoid the fireball or hit it to deflect it
Fireballs are easy to deflect and can kill a Ghast if you hit it with one of them.
Step 3. Since Ghasts can fly, you will need to build bridges to get to the items (gunpowder and Ghast's tears) and experience points
Collect them. Also, you'd better build the bridge with rubble so the Ghast explosions can't destroy it.
Method 15 of 19: Multiple Monsters
Sometimes when you are out at night there will be a bunch of mobs.
Step 1. Run towards them
Don't be afraid or you may die.
Step 2. Give a hit or a critical hit
Step 3. Collect the items
Better check if there are other mobs.
Method 16 of 19: The Wither Boss
Step 1. When spawned, the Wither recharges its force and explodes
After that it will fly high in the sky.
Step 2. Shoot arrows at the Wither's head or body
Step 3. After the Wither blood is nearly gone, the Wither will have a sparkling white cover around it
This means that it can no longer be damaged by arrows. He won't be able to fly as high as he did before, and you just have to kill him with your sword.
Step 4. After you kill him he will release a Nether star, which you can use to make a lighthouse
Method 17 of 19: The Magma Cube
A Magma Cube is very similar to a Slime.
Step 1. Try to stay at least 5 blocks away
Step 2. Hit him with the sword
Step 3. Kill the smaller cubes it transmutes into
Method 18 of 19: The Wither Skeleton
Step 1. Build a beam two blocks above the ground in a Nether fortress
The Wither Skeletons are 3 blocks tall, so they can't go under the rafters, but you can.
Step 2. When one arrives, it will see you and walk towards you
When he stops by a beam, get close and hit him until he dies. Remember to stay on the other side of the beam from him.
Step 3. Collect the items
They are usually bone or coal, and sometimes a stone sword. You will rarely get a skull, which is used to spawn a Wither.
Method 19 of 19: The End Dragon
Method 1
Step 1. Make the dragon look at you
If he looks at you he will come towards you.
Step 2. Use bow and arrow to kill him
Arrows are the most effective weapon as the dragon can fly.
Method 2
Step 1. Get ready
Get diamond armor and enchant it as best you can. Get a diamond sword too, and charm it. Do it with a bow; you will need 64 arrows. Get a diamond ax and 2 sets of 64 blocks. Get a piston and a redstone torch. Get some golden apples too.
Step 2. Go to the place
Use your bow to hit the obsidian pole crystals. You will have to climb the other poles with the iron cages.
Step 3. Once all the crystals are destroyed, make your way to the rock base
The dragon will swoop down on the pedestal / portal spitting out its acid. He might spit some at you.
Step 4. Aim for the eyes and strike him with your sword
Repeat until you kill him. At some point it will explode, dropping many experience points. Collect them.
Step 5. Take 4 blocks and create a 4 x 4 platform around the eggs
Build a path all around.
Step 6. Stand in front of the eggs and place a piston pointing in that direction
Place the redstone torch behind or next to the piston.
Step 7. Collect the eggs
Jump into the portal and read the story. You can press ESC if you don't feel like it or the "B" button if you are playing on the Xbox.
Step 8. Display your eggs with pride, celebrate your victory and invite your friends
Advice
- Look around when you fight a mob. There may be others, and you don't want a Creeper to come up behind you and kill you.
- If you choose "Peaceful" mode, all mobs will disappear.
- Always keep the food bar at least 8 1/2 so you can regain life.
- Feed the tamed wolves that accompany you in the fights. You can give him rotten meat.
- Carry more than one sword in case one breaks.
- If you hit a wolf when it is still wild, its eyes turn red and it will try to catch you. You have to escape.
- There is a small spider called the Cave Spider. It looks like the normal spider but it can poison you; an antidote is milk. It is found only near the mine shafts.
- If you are attacked by various mobs, dig a trench 3 blocks deep, enter it and close with a block. Wait for the day to come. You can also build a hut two blocks by three and break up the lower block. You can see the mobs feet and you can kill them without them hurting you. Sometimes the monsters get bored and leave.
- After you kill a Zombie, make sure there are no others following you. Zombies call for help when injured.
- If you attack Iron Golems or Wild Wolves select "Peaceful" mode otherwise they will follow you quickly.
- Don't taunt monsters unless you're collecting items.
- The Creepers explode to kill you. Watch out!
- If a Creeper is flashing, you dig or run, as it could explode and kill you.
- If you are near a Creeper and have no armor and / or weapons, you may want to move away.
- Fight the Ghasts by throwing fireballs back at them.
- Skeletons cannot shoot arrows when they are too close.
- Armor is very useful.
- If you wear a pumpkin on your head the Enderman will not attack you, if you look him in the eye.
- You better charm your weapons!
Warnings
- Don't carry wolves and don't fight creepers when you have third person vision activated. Usually this doesn't lead to anything good.
- Snow Golems can only damage other Snow Golems.
- The bow is useless against the Endermen because they can teleport before the arrows reach them.
- Don't walk around without armor. If you're just starting out, try to get one as soon as possible.
