Temporary tattoos are an excellent solution for children, masquerade parties or evenings when you want a "metalhead" look without the commitment of a real tattoo. However, it is not always easy to remove them. Whatever the reason that prompted you to get a temporary tattoo, at some point you will notice that it will begin to peel off and you will have to take it off. Follow the methods described in this tutorial to succeed.
Steps
Method 1 of 5: Scrubbing
Step 1. Apply a small amount of baby oil
Remember that this kind of images are designed to resist water and soap, so oily substances are generally the best solution for rubbing off the tattoo.
- Alternatively, moisten a cotton ball or paper towel with rubbing alcohol. Remember that rubbing could cause some skin irritation.
- If you don't have baby oil on hand, use olive oil.
Step 2. Let the oil absorb into the tattoo for a minute
In this way, it softens both the skin and the image, making it easier to remove.
Step 3. Take a towel and rub the tattoo vigorously
The image should begin to form lumps and peel, detaching from the skin. Continue the mechanical action until any residue has been removed.
You can also use absorbent paper instead of a towel
Step 4. Wash your skin with warm soapy water to remove traces of oil
Continue washing until your skin is no longer greasy. Blot the area with a cloth.
Method 2 of 5: Tearing
Step 1. Cut several pieces of masking tape
The transparent one, like scotch tape, is fine, since it is more effective than the paper one. Attach bits of tape to the edge of a table or work surface.
Step 2. Stick the duct tape onto the tattoo, applying some pressure
Remember to make it adhere completely, so that it covers the entire image of the temporary tattoo. Rub the top of the tape with your fingers.
Step 3. Remove the tape from the skin
The tattoo should come off with it. This process requires several attempts, especially if the image to be removed is large.
Step 4. Rub the skin with an ice cube after removing the tattoo
In this way you minimize the redness caused by the tear.
Method 3 of 5: With the Cold Cream
Step 1. Apply some cold cream to the tattoo
Be very careful to completely cover it.
Step 2. Wait for the cream to be completely absorbed by the skin
You must allow the product to penetrate for at least an hour for it to be able to perform its "magic" perfectly.
Step 3. Rub the area with a towel
Finally, remove any residue with warm soapy water.
Method 4 of 5: With Nail Polish Remover
Step 1. Dampen a cotton ball with nail polish remover
If you don't have this product available, use denatured alcohol.
Step 2. Rub the temporary tattoo with the swab
Continue until you notice that the image begins to flake off the skin. You will likely need to re-moisten the pad or even change it, depending on the size of the tattoo.
Step 3. Finally, wash yourself with warm soapy water
Use a towel to rinse the tattoo area, then wash with soap and water to make sure you don't leave out any acetone residue.
Method 5 of 5: With the makeup remover
Step 1. Moisten a cotton ball with some makeup remover
Step 2. Rub the tattoo gently
Step 3. Wash your skin with soap and water
Step 4. Wait for the area to air dry, or pat it dry with a soft cloth
Step 5. If necessary, repeat the entire process
Advice
- Many temporary tattoos fade on their own with time and showers; for this reason, if you don't want to be too aggressive on the skin, wait a few days, the tattoo will come off by itself.
- Be very careful with denatured alcohol! Do not overdo it, otherwise you will have a burning sensation.
