Do you want to get your nose pierced, but they won't let you? There are ways to minimize it and make it less visible when your parents are around. The same methods apply to those who want to make it go unnoticed in the workplace.

Method 1 of 3: Use a Retainer to Hide the Piercing
Step 1. Buy a nose piercing retainer
They are high-tech plastic devices, specially designed to hide nose rings.
- Hide the piercing under a nude acrylic retainer. There are small domes or balls of flesh-colored acrylic material on the market, which you can use to cover the nose piercing. Sometimes they are made of a special clear plastic called Lucite.
- Optionally, you can also disguise the piercing under a tiny flat disk after painting the surface with flesh-colored nail polish. You can also use a clear, glass or quartz nose stud to hide the ring. For those with particularly sensitive skin, however, the plastic material is better.
Step 2. Put on the retainer
Nose piercing retainers are specially designed to completely hide it. This way it can look like a mole or a pimple. In some cases it can even become invisible (the goal is this).
- You need to insert the end of the ball into the piercing, so that the cone stays on the outside. The cone will look like a small growth of the skin.
- There are retainers that are very comfortable to wear. They are so small in size that you need to buy a few more, so if you lose one, you have another one in stock.
- There are also retainers on the market made especially for curved barbells or nose earrings. Some are equipped with a decoration at the end, but to be used only you intend to show the piercing and not camouflage it.
Step 3. Insert the piercing into the nose
Moisten it with water first. Grab the piercing and pull it out the other side.
- Follow this procedure if it is a horseshoe piercing for the nasal septum. Don't do this if you just put it on, because you have to wait for it to heal first.
- Obviously, do not follow this procedure if it is a nostril piercing, because it only works if it is a question of hiding a septum ring.
Method 2 of 3: Hide the Piercing with Makeup or a Band-Aid
Step 1. Put on your usual foundation
Also put on some face powder or earth. Use a very concentrated concealer and apply it with a concealer brush.
- Apply the concealer to the piercing. Spread it well over the entire area. Choose a shade similar to that of your skin.
- Blend your makeup with a sponge to make it look natural.
Step 2. Put on a band-aid
Use the outside of the patch. Cut a small strip out of it with a pair of scissors. Apply the strip to your face at the nose ring.
- Press it with tweezers as you attach it, then finish it with scissors to match the ring. Cut the edges trying to make it as circular as possible.
- Then take some liquid patch and spread it two layers over the patch of patch. You should be able to find it easily at department stores. It smells like nail polish. Put it on the patch you applied to the piercing. Roll it out two or three layers and let it dry.
- Complete the procedure by spreading a layer of foundation with a makeup sponge.
Step 3. Be careful not to get hurt
A nose piercing usually takes longer to heal than an ear piercing. The reason is that the tissue of the auricle is softer than that of the nose.
- Do not use a barbell or ring that is too large for your nose to avoid scar tissue formation. Try to touch the piercing as little as possible. Do not tug, as this can also cause scars.
- You can wear a retainer even while your nose is healing from a recent piercing. You just have to be careful to work in scrupulously sterile hygienic conditions, keeping the piercing clean as you replace it.
Method 3 of 3: Choose a Faux Piercing Ring
Step 1. Get a fake piercing ring
If you're afraid of getting into trouble wearing a nose ring, or if your parents won't let you wear one, how about trying a fake one?
- Getting a piercing is an important decision. A fake nose one will allow you to test your look without risking regretting it.
- Nose piercing hurts. Why deal with pain when you can have a fake one that feels real? Try a magnetic or spring ring. They look just real and there is no need to pierce the skin. Another good thing is that you don't risk getting scarred.
Step 2. Choose the type of fake piercing ring you prefer
There are several varieties, so experiment to figure out which one suits you best and which one you feel most comfortable with.
- There are nose rings made like clip earrings with small magnets to put inside the nose. The ring appears as a small post attracted to the magnet.
- Spring nose rings work a little differently. They feature a small disc-like spring. The spring causes the ring to hook onto the nose. These fake piercings almost always look real.
Step 3. Purchase a clear piercing ring
They are found in all the most well-stocked accessory stores. Take a hair straightener and melt the ball until it is flattened, so you can simply place it against your skin.
- Pull out your real piercing ring. Get some petroleum jelly. It will be easier to insert the clear one into the nose. Place it on the exact spot where you have the piercing.
- Put some petroleum jelly on the ring. Insert it into your nose. Clean off traces of petroleum jelly.
Advice
- Just ignore it, or your parents will notice.
- Don't touch the piercing in front of your parents. You would draw their attention to it.
- Carefully take care of the piercing to avoid infections: in this case they would certainly notice it.
- Choose a small one or a shade similar to that of your skin.
- To hide the piercing, a retainer with a small, flat post is the ideal solution.
- Consider telling your parents. Maybe they understand! Lying is never a good thing.
