Aging is a natural part of life for men and women, but it doesn't always make it pleasant. If you are worried about losing your looks and your way of being young, know that you are not alone. Don't worry, help exists. In fact, there are many weapons at your disposal to remove a few years from your image, without the need to destroy your bank account or undergo surgery. For example, learn how to take care of your skin carefully or give a new face to your haircut.
Steps
Part 1 of 4: Giving a Younger Look to Your Face
Step 1. Choose a facial cleansing product that is not too aggressive
Adult skin does not need too aggressive products, such as that of adolescents which is often excessively oily. If you use too harsh soap, you will deprive your skin of its natural fat, making it too dry and making wrinkles appear faster. Prefer products suitable for your age, or those defined as delicate or moisturizing. Women should moisturize their facial skin before each make-up application.
Even when we get older, it remains of fundamental importance to cleanse the skin of the face in order to remove any traces of chemical substances of environmental origin or make-up, both, if left in contact with the skin, can in fact cause aging
Step 2. Hydrate after cleansing
It is very important to moisturize the skin to keep it young and healthy. Dry skin ages faster if it is not hydrated. Try an anti-aging cream with a moisturizing effect and a sufficiently high percentage of active agent (suitable for your age). If you are unsure which one to buy, try reading other consumers' opinions and reviews on the ones that interest you the most; or, rely on the results of scientific research that have been done on these products. Make sure the product you choose is nourishing and highly moisturizing, as opposed to those used in youth.
Remember that skin care is not exclusively a female prerogative; there are numerous products on the market designed specifically for a male audience
Step 3. Use sunscreen every day
On the market there are various moisturizers with sun protection factor; in fact, protecting the skin from UV rays is vital to avoid damage and delay aging. The sun is one of the major causes of premature aging; for this reason, dermatologists always recommend applying a cream with a protection factor of 15 to avoid the formation of wrinkles, spots and other "signs of aging". These creams are also effective in preventing skin cancer.
If you intend to spend some time outdoors, you can apply a sunscreen not only on the face, but also on the décolleté and the back of the hands. Doing so will prevent the appearance of unwanted spots on the skin. If, on the other hand, you intend to go out in the sun for a long time, you need to apply sunscreen all over your body
Step 4. Exfoliate the skin
Use a gentle exfoliant to stimulate cell regeneration, and look younger. Choose a product suitable for adult skin; these are generally more delicate products that do not dry out the skin. An exfoliant is also useful for a softer and brighter skin.
Step 5. Treat your beard or remove facial hair
For a man, taking care of his beard, or shaving, will certainly make him look younger. In the case of a woman, shaving facial hair is a good way to get rid of an obvious sign of aging. Here are some things to keep in mind, based on gender:
-
Men:
Shave well and deeply, or take care of your beard as much as possible. Remove the hair from the nose and ears. To do this you can use a specific razor. These razors can be purchased at appliance stores; they are painless and easy to use. Not taking care of your beard makes you look older and, of course, neglected. Don't forget to remove the hair that protrudes from your nostrils as well if you want to avoid looking like an old man.
-
Women:
Facial hair can appear in old age, especially in menopause, due to a change in hormone levels. To remove these unsightly hairs, and take off a few more years, try with wax or with special strips. You may also want to consider laser treatment or some simple hair removal cream to do this.
Women should make sure their brows appear thick enough. In fact, as we age the eyebrows tend to become sparser, forcing us to artificially thicken them with a pencil of their same color to recreate a youthful look
Step 6. Make up to look younger if you are a woman
There are numerous tricks capable of helping women to make their qualities stand out, while concealing the signs of aging. The trick is to hide the blemishes while emphasizing your best features, such as your gaze. Here are some tips you can experiment with:
- Use only a cream concealer. In fact, any product that is too heavy or visible can make you look older.
- Apply a small amount of blush to the top of the cheekbones only, avoiding the hollows of the cheeks. As you age, your face will slim down, and your cheeks will tend to naturally appear more sunken. This feature can make you look a little older, so there is no need to emphasize it further with the use of blush.
- Start outlining the eyes with a brown pencil instead of a black one. As you age, black will begin to look too harsh in contrast to the rest of your face. Brown will frame your eyes more delicately.
- Show off your lashes. As you get older, your lashes tend to naturally thin and straighten, so you'll need to curl them and apply volumizing mascara whenever possible.
- Minimize the color on the lips. A light colored lipstick can be a winning addition, but avoid emphasizing the lip contour too prominently or wearing bright colors. Lips also thin as the years go by, but there's no need to overdo the makeup trying to compensate.
Part 2 of 4: Giving a Younger Look to Your Body
Step 1. Take care of your teeth
Healthy teeth can make you look younger and more attractive. Make sure you have your teeth cleaned properly every day: this includes brushing your teeth and using a mouthwash. If you feel your teeth aren't white enough, or you're starting to have problems, see a dentist right away. You may undergo whitening treatment or, in the case of other problems, including tooth decay, flaky or stained teeth, undergo the most appropriate interventions to fix them.
- There are also specific whitening products that could be effective; however, it is always advisable to seek the opinion of a dentist before starting to use them.
- Teeth can reveal your true age much more than other parts of the body, so start looking after them early by following an appropriate daily cleaning routine.
Step 2. Cover your white hair
This advice may not apply to everyone, as there are people who like the grizzled look. However, there are other people who want to get rid of gray hair and, fortunately, the market is full of products suitable for this purpose. It is always best to choose a color similar to the natural one. You can opt to have your hair dyed at the hairdresser, or buy the dye at any grocery store and do it at home. However, remember that dye damages the hair; therefore, avoid applying it too often, or use less aggressive products.
- To avoid having to dye your hair too often, when applying the dye do it from the root, where your natural hair color is visible. Leave the product in that area for longer and apply it to the rest of the hair for only a couple of minutes. Another alternative is to use specific products for the hairline; in that case the application is made only in that area when you notice the regrowth.
- Women might choose to soften the new look with a few highlights or some lighter highlights.
- Try to use natural or organic hair dyes that are free of harmful chemicals. Your hair and appearance will benefit greatly.
Step 3. Update your haircut
Have you had the same haircut for twenty years? It is really time to opt for a trendy cut that knows how to best enhance your face and your features, making you look younger. Browse some fashion magazines or check out the most current celebrity looks to find out which are the most popular cuts of the moment. Even if an ultra trendy look is not for you, choosing a cut that knows how to give you more than the previous one, can make you look even ten years younger. Here are some things to consider when you want to change your haircut:
-
Women:
- If you have a wider forehead and if your facial features allow it, opt for a fringe or a tuft, they will give you a more youthful look.
- Even a layered cut can make you look younger. Your hair will appear more voluminous, consistent and lighter, and you will get rid of that 'helmet' that could characterize your current appearance.
- Cut your hair so that it frames your face and falls over your shoulders. A cut even a few centimeters shorter will give you years of youth. But make sure you don't cut them too short, it's certainly not a grandmother you want to look like.
-
Men:
- Let your hair grow out a little to soften your features. But be sure to keep them tidy at all times to avoid looking gaunt and old.
- If you are prone to baldness, consider shaving your head. It will make you look younger, and more charming, than showing bald areas in your hair.
Step 4. Dress appropriately for your age and fitness
Clothes that flatter your silhouette can instantly make you look slimmer and more stylish, without too much effort and without overdoing it. This advice is also valid in the case of men, although the male physique is not as varied as the female one. Dressing up like someone half your age will not make you look younger in any way, quite the opposite. So focus on clothing that suits you.
- It is not necessary for women to show centimeters of bare skin to appear younger, it is in fact better to opt for those garments that know how to emphasize your features without drawing too much attention on the décolleté.
- If you've been wearing the same clothes since time immemorial, maybe it's time to consider a wardrobe change. If you don't know what to buy, try asking a friend or family what kind of clothing they think is right for you. If, on the other hand, you don't feel comfortable doing this, try looking at fashion magazines and try to figure out what kinds of clothes might favor your image.
- If you still have any doubts, ask for advice in stores; have the assistants accompany you to the dressing room and ask their opinion openly. Try to try on as many items as possible, even if at first you think they are not suitable for you (you may change your mind once you put them on).
Step 5. Wear bright colors
The bright colors will make you look more youthful, fun and active. At the same time you yourself will feel younger and full of energy. Get rid of that black, gray and those neutral tones, and give your wardrobe a new boost with shades of red, orange, green and other cheerful colors. Although black and other dark colors can slim your figure, they also make it appear a little older than it actually is.
It is not necessary to completely abandon dark colors. But if you are wearing a black shirt, for example, cheer it up with a colorful accessory or tie
Step 6. Use accessories correctly (for women)
Women should put those necklaces paired with earrings that make them look more elegant, but also older, in the drawer and replace them with more fashionable jewelry. You will look much younger by wearing pretty trendy earrings instead of that set you love so much. It seems that even the colored rings know how to give a touch of youth to the wearer as they enliven the look.
Regular manicures and pedicures are also very helpful. Careful hand and foot care will make you look even younger
Step 7. Use a perfume with notes of pink grapefruit (for women)
Research has shown that more than any other pink grapefruit fragrance is capable of giving women a youthful note. Naturally avoid overdoing it, a small amount of perfume behind the ears can do wonders.
Step 8. Hydrate your body
Drink at least 10 glasses of water of 240 ml each to favor the hydration of your skin and prolong your fresh and youthful appearance as long as possible over time. Proper hydration will keep your organs healthy, make you feel better and give you a healthier appearance. Make drinking water part of your daily routine. Don't just drink with meals, give your body a glass of water every hour or two, even if you don't feel particularly thirsty.
You don't need to over-hydrate, but provide your body with enough water to stay healthy and look young
Step 9. Exercise
It may not be easy, some people are in fact too busy, unsure of what to do or convinced that they are too out of shape to start moving. However, even a small constant amount of exercise helps to make you feel vital and energetic, not only making you look younger, but also giving you a real feeling of youth. Combine exercise with a healthy and balanced diet, you will stay healthy for a long time, have more energy and prevent diseases, which can make you look years older.
- Make it a goal to exercise at least 30 minutes a day.
- If getting exercise into your daily routine is really hard, at least try to walk as much as you can. Instead of driving, walk 20 minutes to the supermarket, walk while chatting with friends on the phone, or just try walking for at least two hours a week.
- While keeping fit is important, losing weight drastically or constantly being the victim of the yo-yo effect can make you look older. Rapid weight loss can make the skin on the face and neck limp, so it's always best to opt for moderate behavior.
- Forms of exercise that are ideal for older people can include yoga, pilates, cycling, simple hiking and tennis.
Step 10. Choose foods that make you look younger
While there is no magical food that can make your face look ten years younger, there are some foods that when eaten regularly can make you look and feel younger. Here are which ones you should incorporate into your diet if you haven't already:
- Oranges. The vitamin C contained in these delicious fruits ensures that you feel younger.
- Broccoli. This vegetable contains vitamin C and its properties help the liver keep itself stronger.
- Light yogurt. It can help your skin and provide the calcium your teeth need to be healthy.
- Berries. The antioxidants contained in each variety of berries help the skin stay fresh.
- Sweet potatoes. They are a great help for the complexion and hair.
- Carrots. Another fantastic food for the skin.
Part 3 of 4: Using Supplements
Supplements are a great way to make sure you don't have any substance deficiencies and to help your body age healthily.
Step 1. Take 1000-2000 mg of vitamin C (ascorbic acid, calcium ascorbate, or anything with "ascorbate")
It is a water soluble vitamin which is antioxidant. This means it protects your cells from damage caused by free radicals. Vitamin C is known to help heal the skin, protect it from the harmful UV rays of the sun, and support the body (not just the skin) in other ways. Do not take more than 2000 mg per day, as it can increase the risk of kidney stones forming.
Step 2. Take 4000 IU of Vitamin D3 every day
This fat-soluble vitamin helps maintain strong bones, prevent cancer, aids the immune system and provides healthy support for skin aging. There are vitamin D receptors throughout the body.
Step 3. Take high-quality vitamin B complex supplements.
These vitamins have been shown to help repair the skin and possibly prevent Alzheimer's disease.
Part 4 of 4: Having Healthy Habits
Step 1. Have sex
Right. Research has shown that having sex at least three times a week allows you to look ten times younger than someone who doesn't. This is because sex causes the production of a growth hormone that prevents aging. This doesn't mean that you have to go on adventures three times a week just to look younger, but that in the presence of a partner you love, or like, you can set yourself the goal of increasing the number of your sexual intercourse.
You may be telling yourself that you are too busy, tired, or mentally distracted to have sex. Be careful though, we're not talking about having sex for fun here, but as a means of looking younger, that's productive
Step 2. Maintain good posture
Nothing will quickly make you appear older than a sagging posture, similar to that of an elderly grandmother. Proper posture will bring years of youth to your appearance, and all you need to do is make a conscious effort to keep your spine straight, shoulders steady rather than limp, and face forward rather than the floor. Instantly you will look ten years younger! Keeping your spine straight will also allow your nerve cells to function more efficiently, receiving more energy and feeling and looking younger throughout the day.
While sitting it may be tempting to arch your back, but remember that good posture can be maintained both when standing and sitting
Step 3. Get plenty of sleep
You shouldn't sleep 10-12 hours a night just to try to look younger. It wouldn't work. Nonetheless, you should make a commitment to be well rested as often as possible. As you age, your body begins to show signs of fatigue with increasing frequency, especially around the eyes. You may even find that, as the years go by, you need less sleep than you used to, don't worry. Make a commitment to give your body the right amount of sleep it requires, whether it's seven hours or less.
Step 4. Get regular massage
Having a massage at least once a month, either by a professional or by your partner, can help you relax and help you release those tensions that make your body appear older. A massage also stimulates the secretion of anabolic hormones that reduce aging.
Make it a goal to get a massage at least once a month, or even more often if you're feeling particularly tense
Step 5. Do yoga
Yoga is a low impact discipline that allows you to take care of your mind and body, relieving stress, and giving you a feeling of greater gratitude towards your life. Try attending a yoga class and notice how young and energetic the participants are; surely adding yourself to the group at least once or twice a week cannot harm your current appearance. Yoga is also a great way to move, heal injuries, or train as a beginner by signing up for the appropriate course.
In general, doing yoga also promotes a healthier lifestyle that will help you look younger
Step 6. Reduce stress as much as possible
It is a fact that a stressful lifestyle makes you tired and unhappy, and causes the consequent appearance of wrinkles. Try to reduce the number of responsibilities and find new ways to respond to life's demands. Try to spend at least an hour a day relaxing, such as taking a hot bath with a good book or watching your favorite TV show. Although it is not possible to completely eliminate the stress from life, even if you live on a tropical island and have found a chest full of money, you can take steps to help you minimize the perceived tensions.
- This means avoiding those situations that are very stressful for you, like going to noisy parties if you don't like it or driving during the busiest hours.
- List the ten things that put you the most stress. Now, if possible, write down five methods that can help reduce exposure to those things.
- Of course, there are stressful things that cannot be avoided, such as an aging parent or a partner losing their job; however, you have the power to develop a more positive attitude towards such things.
Step 7. Don't smoke
If you are a smoker, make the conscious effort to quit smoking as soon as possible, (easier said than done isn't it?) Smoking is one of the worst things you can do if you're trying not to look old. Smoking thins the lips, dehydrates the skin and makes it duller and more wrinkled, as well as discoloring hair and nails. On top of that, quitting smoking will make you healthier and less prone to serious illnesses in the future.
Of course, smoking also makes you give off an unpleasant fragrance. And mentally this smell is certainly not associated with a person in the prime of his youth
Step 8. Laugh as much as you can
Add laughter to your life. As we get older, happiness and laughter become an essential element of our well-being. Surrounding yourself with positive friends who can tell funny stories will keep you young and lively. Don't worry that laughter will cause wrinkles to appear, laugh openly from the heart. Having people who can make you laugh and feel ten years younger will have significant and beneficial effects on your appearance.
Step 9. Avoid abuse or regular consumption of alcohol
The side effects of alcoholic beverages are less well known and more common than those of smoking, although just as bad. Alcohol can cause premature aging and can also be linked to future diseases. Alcohol also dehydrates your body, making your skin visually drier, and can be the cause of swelling around the eyes on the day after it is taken. In fact, none of these features will make you look youthful.
Of course, part of looking young is feeling young and having fun. And for some people, alcohol is a social lubricant. So if, from time to time, you like to go wild and have some martinis, don't completely eliminate drinks from your life
Step 10. Choose to have a youthful attitude
Seriously. Part of looking young is having a fun and carefree attitude. This doesn't mean being immature, dancing on the tables, or making fun of others like you're in middle school. It means that you should be positive, friendly and avoid jealousy, resentment or any other negative feeling that makes you feel like you are turning into an old lady.
- Worry as little as possible, go out and enjoy the world. You will be too busy having fun to worry about your outward appearance.
- Be proud of your age. Be positive about your appearance, even if you would like to look a little younger, you will find that other people will immediately see you in a better light.
Advice
- Do neck stretch exercises to make the muscles more elastic and improve the skin in this area. This will reduce the amount of loose skin. The neck is the part of the body most subject to the signs of aging; so, take care of it.
- Be happy! Surround yourself with positive people who know how to make you feel young and you will feel young, your feeling of youth will also shine outwardly!
