Despite the rather creepy name, Dead Sea salts are capable of reviving the skin. In particular, they are great for skin care. There are many ways to use them, continue reading the article to find out more.
Steps
Method 1 of 3: Bath with Dead Sea salts
Step 1. Buy the salts
You can find them online (for example on Amazon), in herbal medicine, in perfumery and even in the most well-stocked supermarkets. Remember that they have several uses and that, as long as they are pure, they do not have an expiration date.
Step 2. Fill the bathtub
Put the cap on the bottom and start running the water. Check the temperature with your hand to make sure it's the way you want it. Since you will have to stay immersed in the water for a long time, it is important that it is not too hot. The correct degree of heat is what makes bathing enjoyable and relaxing.
Step 3. Add Dead Sea salts
The amount needed depends on the amount of water, but in general 275g should be appropriate. If you don't feel like using the scale, you can add a cup or a couple of handfuls. At this point, mix the water with your hands to help the salts dissolve.
If you want, you can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oil, for example that of lavender
Step 4. Get into the bathtub
Relax in the salt water for at least 20 minutes. Dead Sea salts contain magnesium, potassium, zinc, calcium, iodine, and dozens of other minerals that work together to improve skin health. In addition to hydrating it, they help to cure some skin ailments, such as eczema and psoriasis. The salts of the Dead Sea also attenuate skin imperfections, such as scars.
Method 2 of 3: Scrub with Dead Sea Salts
Step 1. Purchase salts and a "carrier oil"
You can buy salts online, in herbal medicine, in perfumery or even in the most well-stocked supermarkets. To create the scrub you also need a "carrier oil", which is a pure vegetable oil that can be used as a neutral base. The choice is completely personal, you can use either coconut, olive, almond oil or any other neutral and skin-friendly oil. For every 275g of Dead Sea salts you will need approximately 80-120ml of oil.
Step 2. Mix the salts with the oil
First pour the Dead Sea salts into a bowl, then add the oil gradually, never stopping stirring with a metal spoon. Keep pouring until you get the desired consistency. If you wish, you can also incorporate a few drops of a scented or essential oil of your choice.
Step 3. Transfer the scrub to a container
The indicated doses allow you to prepare a quantity that will last a long time, so you need a glass jar or a plastic container with a lid in which to store it. Keep it away from sudden changes in temperature and humidity.
This scrub has no expiration date, as long as you keep it away from water when you shower. Otherwise, bacteria could proliferate inside the product
Step 4. Use the scrub whenever you want
First wet your skin in the shower, then turn off the water tap. Remove the scrub from the container using a dry spoon. All you have to do is massage it all over your body in circular motions, starting from the feet up to the neck.
- Leave it on for a couple of minutes before washing it off with water. In this way the skin will have time to absorb the precious salts and obtain the maximum benefits.
- This scrub is not suitable for the face. Although it is perfect for exfoliating the skin on the body, it may irritate that of the face as it is much more delicate.
Method 3 of 3: Dead Sea Salt Spray to Mist on the Skin
Step 1. Boil some water
Once hot, you can use it to dissolve the salts of the Dead Sea. You can use distilled water or regular tap water, the important thing is to boil it in a pot. Once it reaches a boil you can turn off the flame. For this recipe, you need 240ml of water.
Step 2. Pour the salts into the hot water
Add about 1 tablespoon or 15 g of Dead Sea salts, then add them to the water. Stir using a teaspoon until they are completely dissolved. If you want, you can also add a few drops of essential oil, such as lavender, to perfume your spray solution.
Step 3. Transfer the salt water to a bottle with a spray mist
You can buy it empty in pharmacies, perfumeries or online. Alternatively, you can reuse an empty container, for example a spray sunscreen; in this case it is essential to wash it carefully. Pour the salted water into the bottle, then seal it with the cap.
Step 4. Spray it on your face
Dead Sea salts are usually added to bath water or used as a scrub, but this recipe allows you to benefit from it at any time of day. Nebulising it on the skin of the face serves to hydrate and nourish it; it is also very useful for treating acne as well as for dry skin. You can keep the spray bottle in your bag and use it to revitalize your facial skin whenever you feel the need.
