Thick eyebrows are all the rage these days, but unfortunately, you can't get them to lengthen and thicken overnight. If you've been using tweezers for a long time, there are probably few left, but there's good news: it is possible to regrow them quickly! With a little patience, a little effort and the right products, you can stimulate the follicles and cause hair to grow faster. If you want to be on the safe side, experiment with more than one of the proposed methods.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Nourish the Eyebrows at Night
Step 1. Choose the product you prefer
A good way to make your brows grow faster is to hydrate them while you sleep. There are several products that can help you feed them, and chances are you already have some around the house. Among the best options are:
- Castor oil which contains proteins that stimulate eyebrow growth, however, may irritate the skin.
- Extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil that seals the moisture inside the hairs and therefore makes them healthier and prone to grow quickly. Both are natural and not too expensive.
- Vaseline which, like oil, seals the moisture inside the hair. Choose a different product if you have oily or acne-prone skin to avoid aggravating the situation.
- Alternatively, you can purchase a serum specifically formulated to thicken your brows at the perfumery. Generally these products contain vitamins and peptides that can stimulate growth. They are effective, but they can also be very expensive.
Step 2. Perform a skin test to rule out that you have an allergy to the selected product
Before applying it to the eyebrows and going to sleep, you should test the product on a less visible area of the body. Spread a small amount on the inside of your wrist or one side of your neck. After 4-6 hours, check if the skin is red, irritated or affected by some rash. If you have any unwanted symptoms, stop using that product.
- Do not test more than one product at a time to avoid confusion.
- The chances of the skin becoming irritated are increased by using eyebrow serums, castor oil and petroleum jelly, while extra virgin olive oil and coconut oil are generally gentler. Nevertheless, it is good to test any product before leaving it on the face for several hours.
Step 3. Thoroughly cleanse your skin before going to sleep
Use a facial cleanser and pay special attention to the area around the eyebrows. Rinse your skin with cold water and make sure you have removed all traces of soap.
- You don't have to buy a particular cleanser, you can use the same one you use every day.
- It is a good idea to exfoliate the skin on your face a couple of times a week to get rid of dead cells.
Step 4. Apply the selected product on the eyebrows
If you have purchased a specific serum in perfumery, use the appropriate applicator. If, on the other hand, you have chosen an oil or vaseline, pour a few drops on your fingers and warm it by rubbing your fingertips together, then massage it on both eyebrows.
- The massage further stimulates hair growth, so spend 1-2 minutes rubbing the product into your eyebrows.
- If you prefer, you can apply the product with a cotton swab instead of your fingers.
- Keep the product out of sight. If necessary, rinse them immediately with plenty of water.
Step 5. Wash your face again when you wake up
The next morning, clean your skin again with the cleanser, taking care to completely remove the oil, serum or petroleum jelly from the eyebrows. Then rinse your face and eyebrows with cold water.
Method 2 of 2: Stimulate Eyebrow Growth
Step 1. Stop shaving them for at least 12 weeks
You may have to wait up to a year for them to fully grow back, but the first few months will be the hardest. Strive to let them grow freely for about three months. Do not tear them in any way: stop using tweezers, waxing or any other hair removal technique.
- Use an eyeshadow or eyebrow pencil to fill in the gaps and define their shape while you wait for the hair to grow back.
- Define the contour of the eyebrows with the concealer to cover excess hair.
Step 2. Comb your brows every day
Massaging the skin or scalp with the comb or brush stimulates hair and hair growth. Buy a small eyebrow brush at a perfumery and use it every day to gently comb them. In addition to thickening faster, they will look neater.
Step 3. Exfoliate the skin around the eyebrows three times a week
Stimulating the follicles is a good way to make hair grow faster. You can create a homemade scrub or buy one ready-made in the perfumery. Apply it to your brows and surrounding skin after washing your face. Massage the product into the hair and scalp with small circular movements. Then rinse your face thoroughly.
Check that there are no product residues left between the hairs of the eyebrows
Step 4. Eat a diet that stimulates hair growth
The foods that are most beneficial to the eyebrows are those that contain omega-3 fatty acids, vitamins A and E and lactic acid. Try to include them in your daily diet.
- Foods that contain omega-3 fatty acids include: salmon, walnuts, kale, and spinach.
- Carrots, sweet potatoes, kale and spinach are rich in vitamin A.
- Almonds, avocados, tomatoes, broccoli and olives are high in vitamin E.
Step 5. Eat foods rich in biotin
This vitamin which belongs to those of group B is excellent for stimulating hair and hair growth. Include foods that are rich in it in your daily diet or alternatively ask your doctor or pharmacist for help to take it as a supplement. Generally the recommended dose for an adult is 25-30 mcg per day. Foods that are high in biotin include:
- Eggs - 8 mcg for each egg;
- Yogurt - 4 mcg every 250 ml;
- Salmon - 4-5 mcg per 100 g;
- Almonds - 14 mcg every 60 g.
Step 6. Exercise regularly to improve circulation
When you exercise, the heart pumps more blood and therefore the flow to the skin improves, so hair has the opportunity to grow faster. Exercising every day is also a good way to stimulate the glands to produce the natural oils that help your hair stay healthy and grow thick.
Step 7. Relieve Stress
The negative effects caused by anxiety and stress include a slowdown in hair growth. If you are very stressed, find ways to resolve the situation. In severe cases it is best to consult a psychologist for help. Techniques you can use to relieve stress include:
- Meditate;
- Practice yoga;
- Get a relaxing massage;
- Keep a diary;
- Talk to a friend;
- Walking in the nature.
Step 8. See your doctor
Some conditions, such as allergies or hormonal imbalances, can cause slow growth or hair loss. Certain medications can also affect hair and hair health. If you think you have any ailments, talk to your doctor.
