Fingerpainting is an activity that many, especially children, enjoy because it does not require any kind of special instructions. Simply paint with your fingers: instead of using a brush, the child has to dip the fingertips into a jar filled with paint. This activity brings children closer to art. Paint is available in different colors, so children learn about the use of colors and how to change the look of their "painting" by adding or mixing colors. This technique can also be used skillfully by adults and become a high art form, as is the case with Ken Done, whose paintings sell for thousands of dollars.
Steps
Step 1. Arrange a few sheets of newspaper on the floor
Step 2. Wear an apron to avoid getting dirty
Fingerpainting is a very fun but also very messy activity. Fill a bowl with water and place it on the floor next to you. Open the jars of different colors and place the ones next to you too.
Step 3. If you don't have finger paints, you can use gouache
Step 4. Take a blank sheet of paper and place it on top of the newspapers
This will be your canvas. A blank sheet is best, but anything is fine. First, dip your fingers in the water and let them drain. Lightly moisten the paper canvas with water. Too much water will make the colors too washed out.
Step 5. Choose a color, dip your fingers in the dye and then place them on the paper
Step 6. Swipe your fingers, or whole hands, across the entire surface of the paper in any direction you want and create the shapes you like
Have fun, it's really that easy.
Step 7. When finished, place your work on another sheet of newspaper to dry
Step 8. That's it
