A beautiful hand-decorated natural bouquet is the wish of all brides. You can choose to use only one type of flower, such as the rose, or diversify by using different varieties. You can also insert leaves, such as, for example, those of camellia. This kind of bouquet is created by holding the stems of flowers and leaves in one hand and adding the other stems around them, in a spiral sense, intertwining the stems in a precise point and then tying them with a string. Finally, to complete, just make a bow with a ribbon, leaving the ends long. By reading this article you will learn how easy it is to make a bridal bouquet.
Steps
Step 1. Choose the most suitable materials - you will need flowers with a long enough stem, such as roses, irises, carnations, alstroemeria, freesias, orchids and lilies
The most suitable leaves include those of camellia, eucalyptus, maple, ivy, nandina, fern.
A mixed bouquet looks best when it is made up of three or four varieties of flowers and a few leaves
Step 2. Trim the ends of the stems with a slanted cut and wet the flowers
Remove all the thorns and remove the leaves present in the lower middle part of the stems.
Step 3. Spread the flowers out on a table
Step 4. Start composing the central part by taking the largest flowers
- Hold the stems between the thumb and forefinger of your left hand, about 6 to 8 inches from the base of the flower.
- With your right hand, evenly add 4-6 bunches of leaves, placing them just below the buds so as to fill in the empty spaces left between one flower and another. Intertwine the stems at a certain angle and twist the bouquet in your hand as you insert the leaves.
- To keep the stems in place, you can use a string or florist tape, without cutting it and looping it around the stems a couple of times.
Step 5. Always holding the bouquet in your hand and with your thumb facing you, evenly insert 5-6 flowers of the same type all around
Rotate the bouquet and secure the stems with a couple of turns of ribbon, as in the previous step.
Step 6. Continue to compose the next layer by adding more flowers, placing them outwards
Try to give the bouquet a rounded shape. Intertwine the stems, give the bunch a quarter turn and add more flowers. If necessary, tape the stems together as before.
Step 7. Continue adding flowers and leaves, turning the bouquet clockwise, until the desired size is achieved
You can add around some camellia leaves or use others, dropping the relative ends for a length of 5-7, 5 cm beyond the flowers. Secure all the stems together by twisting a string around it several times, at the same height as where you placed it previously; cut it and fold the ends inside.
Step 8. Cut the flower and leaf stems, leaving an overall length of 15-20 cm
Step 9. Spray the created bouquet with water
Step 10. As a final step, cover the string, which holds the stems together, with a wide ribbon closed with a nice bow, and the long ends
Advice
- Check all sides of the bouquet well, especially the one that will be most exposed to see, especially when entering the church.
- If you are using several colored flowers, make sure they are evenly distributed.
- If you are a beginner, it is easier to use roses of the same color.
- At the reception the bouquet can be left on the bride's table, thus saving money for the centerpiece.
