A balloon toss is a great way to celebrate an event, remember a loved one or even just a chance to have fun. If you want to make your celebration even more intimate, organize a launch of a limited number of balloons. Remember never to use helium to inflate them, but only air (physicists and the medical community are concerned about the increase in the cost of this gas and the reduction of its availability). Do not forget at the end to collect all the balloons and dispose of them properly, as they represent a risk to wildlife and the environment.
Steps
Step 1. The day before the party, go to a specialty shop and buy some balloons
A good amount varies from 25 to 100 based on the number of guests. You can also rate a number and a symbolic color (read the Tips section).
Step 2. Fill the balloons on the day of the celebration so they won't deflate
Step 3. About half an hour before launch, release a couple to check the wind direction
In this way you can decide where to launch to avoid hitting trees and high voltage cables.
Step 4. Give each guest a balloon or, if you want an even more impressive effect, a small amount of them (3-5 units)
Step 5. When all the guests are at the launch site, a countdown begins to add more tension to the event
Step 6. Throw the balloons
Everyone will fly in the sky carried by the wind and the effect will be fantastic.
Step 7. Wait for them to land and collect them all for proper disposal
Advice
- Latex balloons take anywhere from 6 months to several years to decompose, and the process could kill wildlife. Make sure you collect all freed balloons and dispose of them properly.
- If the event is a commemoration, try to use a number of balloons and a color that is symbolic. For example, if you want to remember the death of an 80-year-old whose favorite color was red, throw 80 red balloons.
- Fill the balloons with just the right amount of air, enough to make them fly but not too much to make them explode. If you're unsure, ask a professional party organizer.
- The balloons must be tied by hand, do not use zip ties as they are not biodegradable and neither do they have ribbons or ropes as they can trap wild animals.
-
The color may change depending on the occasion, for example:
- For Valentine's Day, red and pink balloons.
- For Halloween, black and orange.
- For St. Patrick's Day, green balloons.
- In the invitation, he informs guests that there will be a balloon launch. In this way, if there are subjects allergic to latex, they will be able to avoid the event.
- Arrange the cameras at different angles. Shoot some fucking during the countdown and at different altitudes.
Warnings
- Balloons filled with helium travel farther and return to the ground at more distant points, where non-profit and environmental organizations have to bear the burden and costs of cleaning up waste, treating and burying dead animals (after an autopsy). Never fill balloons with helium, and always collect litter and broken balloons that have scattered in nature.

Releasing balloons is a harmful way of celebrating an event or remembering a loved one. There are many alternatives to celebrate without causing animal death and environmental damage. If you want to make the celebration even more personal, plant a tree, some flowers, release some doves or butterflies, light some candles! You can use balloons filled with air as decorations or to hide inside the prizes, but don't release them in the sky because you increase the amount of plastic material that pollutes the shores, in addition to the fact that, as already mentioned, the helium reserves are becoming running out.
Do not use polyethylene terephthalate balloons because it is a non-biodegradable material. Latex takes anywhere from six months to several years to decompose. Both materials are deadly to wildlife and the ecosystem
- Always check the laws of your region as it may be forbidden to throw balloons or otherwise limit the number of balloons. Authorizations from the Municipality or the Province may also be required.
- Make sure no one is allergic to latex.
