A pool table must be well leveled for the balls to move properly on the felt cloth. A table that is not well leveled negatively affects the accuracy of the players' shots, making the balls roll towards a certain edge or area of the table itself. With some tools you can buy at DIY stores or household items, such as a spirit level and shims, you can level your pool table. Use the tips below to do this.

Steps

Method 1 of 2: Adjust the height of the pool table

Step 1. Consult the manual to understand what kind of pool table it is

It might, for example, have metal plates or adjustable legs, or neither. The manual will give you specific information about your pool table.

Step 2. Check the level of the table

Use a spirit level to determine if the table is level.

  • Place the spirit level in the middle of the pool table. If this is level, the bubble will position itself between the two lines in the middle of the glass tube. If, on the other hand, the bubble stops outside the space delimited by the two lines, it means that some table legs need to be raised or lowered.
  • Use the spirit level to make the same measurement on all four sides of the table. Determine if the height of the table needs to be adjusted.

Step 3. Add metal plates to the base of the table legs

Follow the instructions in the manual to do this. Add the metal plates underneath each leg that needs to be lifted.

Step 4. Adjust the height of the table legs

  • Remove any screws, pins or pins from the leg whose height you want to adjust.
  • Move your legs up and down until the table is level. Follow the instructions on the manual to do this.
  • Adjust the height of each table leg that needs to be raised or lowered.

Step 5. Use shims to bring the table level

  • Get an assistant (or more) to lift the corner of the table where you need to adjust the height of the leg.
  • Place a shim under the leg.
  • Ask your assistant to lower the table.
  • Repeat this process for each corner of the table where the leg needs to be adjusted.
  • Use a level to check the horizontality of the table.
  • Continue adding shims under the table legs until the pool table is level.

Method 2 of 2: Perfect the pool table level

Step 1.

  • Use a ball to calculate the slope of the table.
  • Roll it over a section of the pool table.
  • Determine if it is diverted to a particular edge of the table.
  • Repeat the same process in several places on the pool table.
  • Adjust the table if you notice that the ball is deflected towards a particular edge of the table.

Step 2. Use a smooth sheet of glass or marble to help you calculate the level

  • Place the glass plate in the middle of the pool table.
  • Place the marble slab on top of the glass slab in the middle. The ball will stay in place if the table is well leveled.
  • Adjust the table if you notice that the ball is moving on the glass plate towards a particular edge.
  • Repeat the process for each side of the table, placing the glass and marble slabs at a distance of 5-7.5 cm from each hole.
