Do you drag yourself sadly and unhappily every day? Perpetually followed by a large black cloud of pessimism? Stop immediately! Here are some simple tips that will help you effectively get rid of those overwhelming negative feelings.
Steps
Step 1. Get up with the right attitude
When you wake up wrapped in your daily boredom and misery, open your eyes wide, take three deep breaths and smile (yes, smile). Say aloud: "Today is going to be a wonderful day." Continue planning what will happen, for example "My colleague will not feel stressed at all", "My day will be highly productive". Then jump out of bed and watch the smooth and positive unfolding of the day.
Step 2. Don't focus on what you don't have, but on what you have
In third world countries there are people who would be happy to have the simple basic necessities.
Step 3. Find an open space in nature
Take a short walk during your lunch break, your task will be to look for a flower, a leaf, a bird or a pond, something that you can study carefully in detail. Ideally, hold the leaf in your hand or stare into the center of the flower and notice the millions of intricate cells that blend together creating something truly amazing even if you have overlooked it by going over hundreds of times. You yourself are no less wonderful than that leaf or that flower. Smile at the miracle of being alive in a world of such beauty.
Step 4. Do something you love, something that makes time go by quickly
Something that makes you feel happy and complete.
Step 5. Look at the people
Whenever you find yourself interacting with another human being, make eye contact (yes even with the annoying bus driver) and don't forget to say "hello", "please" and "thank you". Smile as you do it. Over time it will become a habit and even in difficult times you will be able to offer a glimmer of humanity to people who are facing dark times.
Step 6. Say goodbye to alcohol
When we ingest alcohol we are not really able to make meaningful connections and we run into a time thief: the hangover. Life without the after-effects of alcohol is inherently joyful and full of real experiences.
Step 7. Listen to your favorite music and go dancing
While you may seem like an idiot at times, you will feel much better after doing this. Dancing not only allows you to release stress, it is also great physical exercise.
Step 8. Find something to do about another person every day
For example, offer your seat on public transit, call a relative who lives alone, volunteer in your community, or take a friend's dog out. Looking beyond ourselves we will discover an endless well of joy.
Step 9. Call an old friend to laugh out loud or watch a really funny movie
Step 10. Find a hobby you enjoy
By getting passionate and dedicating yourself to something new you will be able to keep your spirit high.
Step 11. Eat an ice cream
If all other methods fail, buy a large pack of ice cream and enjoy it in front of an old movie or while reading a good book. Don't resort to this method too often though, or you could become miserable due to the unnecessary weight gained!
