If you enjoy pampering yourself regularly with a sauna, you will be well aware of its purifying and energizing benefits. To promote the detoxifying process triggered by the sauna, it is useful to use a mixture of essential oils to be thrown on the grill together with the water. The aroma released will enhance the pleasure of the time spent in the sauna.

Step 4. Experiment to create your own blends

Just combine the oils suggested in the first step, as long as you know how to mix them. If you are unsure about quantities, ask your oil dealer for advice or research a reputable aromatherapy manual. If in doubt for any reason, just use a single essential oil. Whatever the mixture obtained, add no more than 3-4 drops to each bucket of water.

Advice

  • Always use good quality essential oils. Ask for advice in a specialized shop.
  • Eucalyptus is great for clearing sinuses and sensory perceptions, but pay attention to its potency: it releases a very strong aroma, so ask other people present if they agree with your choice. Use it alone and occasionally, 1-2 drops per bucket of water should be enough.

Warnings

  • Don't leave bottles of essential oils in the sauna. Otherwise the oils will spoil quickly. Add the drops to the bucket before you enter the sauna.
  • Pregnant women, sick or convalescent people and children should take the sauna with caution.
  • Take a quick shower, dip in a pool or lake at least every 20 minutes or so if you intend to stay in the sauna for a longer period.
  • It is generally advisable not to spend more than 20 minutes in the sauna at a time.
