If you have already tried unsuccessfully to treat acne with every skin care product on the market, you can try a natural remedy. If you have a bunch of bananas at your disposal or manage to retrieve a couple of fruits, you have some chance of succeeding. Use banana peel to treat acne-affected skin, as it contains lutein (an antioxidant) and vitamin A precursor carotenoids, all of which help reduce inflammation. While there is no clinical evidence to prove its effectiveness, you can still try this remedy and see if it works for you.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Treat Acne with Banana Peels
Step 1. Wash your skin
Before using this method, you need to make sure your skin is clean and free of any dirt or grease. Use a mild cleanser to clean the affected area and then rinse with cold water. Pat dry with a clean, soft cloth.
Do not rub or scrub the skin too vigorously, as this could inflame it and aggravate the situation
Step 2. Choose the banana
You need to get one that's ripe. It must be yellow with black spots. Do not choose an unripe one (bright yellow with green spots) or overripe (greasy and black).
If the banana is ripe, it is also easier to rub it on the area affected by acne
Step 3. Prepare the peel
Remove the pulp from the peel (you don't have to use it to treat your acne); you can decide to eat the fruit or keep it to treat another skin problem. Cut the peel, making it easier to handle the individual pieces.
The peel of this fruit contains vitamins A, B, C, E as well as potassium, zinc, iron and manganese. These nutrients calm inflammation and can reduce acne breakouts
Step 4. Rub the peel into the skin
Use the white inner part. Take a piece and rub or massage it gently into your skin for about 10 minutes.
Every few minutes check that the peel is still white inside. When it turns black, replace it with another piece and continue massaging the skin
Step 5. Let the skin rest
After the massage is finished, do not wash it immediately. If possible, wait until the end of the day to rinse your skin with cold water; this way you allow it to absorb all the nutrients from the fruit.
If you can't wait until the end of the day to wash your face, try scrubbing the peel before bed. You can rinse yourself off the next morning with clean water
Step 6. Keep repeating this procedure
Although a daily treatment is sufficient, you should still repeat it for several consecutive days. After a few days, you should notice a reduction in acne - or at least in redness.
If you find that your skin becomes very irritated after the treatment, stop it and let the skin rest. Consider seeing a dermatologist if acne persists or gets worse
Method 2 of 2: Using Bananas for Skin Care
Step 1. Treat wrinkles or cracked heels
If you want to find a remedy for your wrinkles or have very cracked heels, use banana. Mash the pulp until it forms a puree, apply it directly to the areas you want to treat and let it act. In this way the skin is hydrated and the appearance of wrinkles is reduced.
In particular, the vitamin E contained in this fruit acts effectively to reduce the appearance of wrinkles
Step 2. Make an exfoliating scrub
Mash a ripe banana in a bowl until it is almost liquid. Add 1 tablespoon of sugar or 2-3 teaspoons of oats and mix the mixture. This makes it easier to apply it to the skin and remove all dead cells. Finally rinse with warm water and apply a moisturizer.
Be gentle when exfoliating your skin. You should never rub it with harsh or aggressive movements as this could damage it. Instead, use your fingertips gently and apply the scrub in circular motions
Step 3. Try a moisturizing face mask
If you want to make one quickly, take a ripe banana and mash it with a fork until it's pretty runny. Spread it on your face and let it sit for 15-20 minutes. If you want to get more benefits from this mask, add one of the following ingredients:
- Turmeric powder: has antibacterial properties and can fight infections.
- Baking soda: opens pores and eliminates excess sebum.
- Lemon juice: makes the skin more radiant and toned.
- Honey: can kill the bacteria responsible for acne.
Step 4. Use the banana for the hair
Don't forget that this fruit is also great for treating hair problems. Crush a banana or two and add a tablespoon of honey or a few drops of almond oil. Apply the solution to wet hair and let it sit for about 15 minutes. When finished, rinse.
