Research has shown that people who have a positive attitude and follow good habits can heal faster. Stress, lack of sleep and lack of social relationships, nutrition and alcohol can sabotage your body's healing process. However, there are many ways to improve recovery from a physical or mental injury.
Steps
Method 1 of 2: Mentally Heal
Step 1. Believe in the power to heal yourself
A positive attitude will improve the mental or physical healing process; half the battle has already been won.
Step 2. Watch for alarming signs of impending depression or anxiety
These are usually caused by external causes, such as work problems, a divorce, a physical illness or a quarrel with another person. Being prepared in time can save you from psychological torment.
Step 3. Treat stress
If stress is causing depression or anxiety, it's time to take meditation classes, or find another way to channel those feelings. Learning to deal with stress will allow you to take an honest approach to your mental health and address the true source of your problem.
In some cases, it is stress that prevents you from overcoming an obstacle
Step 4. Recognize if depression becomes a habit
If you follow a ritual when something goes wrong - for example, several weeks without social contact, compulsive eating, or self-harm - it is possible that depression has turned into a habit. Next time, try to treat depression, anger or anxiety in a different way to stop the habit and find a more effective treatment.
Step 5. Don't use alcohol or drugs to medicate yourself
Chemicals can change how your brain works. If you are addicted to drugs or alcohol, try attending rehab meetings anonymously, or call a counselor.
Studies have shown that men have a more pronounced dopamine effect resulting from alcohol than women. This could be the reason why alcoholism is more common in men. If alcohol gives you a temporary feeling of well-being, it can be an indication of addiction
Step 6. Develop a social support group
Take some time to talk to friends and family and share information about your life. Maintaining contact improves your attitude and gives you support.
Step 7. If you can take care of it, adopt a pet
If you can't, try to get in touch with dogs, horses or cats at a kennel / cattery or farm. Pets increase levels of oxytocin, or "the love hormone", and can even lower your blood pressure.
Step 8. Paint, write or create
Creative activities help manage anguish and physical stress. For example, John Hopkins University has an acting, music and art program to create a positive and healing atmosphere.
Method 2 of 2: Physically Heal
Step 1. Sit down and check your health daily
Take note of possible pains; then rank your fatigue level on a scale from zero (no fatigue) to 10 (disabling fatigue).
- It is likely that you are used to ignoring your state of health. Furthermore, it is possible that an index greater than five will lead to a disease in the future.
- Study your health agenda. Notice if fatigue, pain or stress occurs on a regular basis, and if so, discuss it with your doctor.
Step 2. Manage stress first
Stress hormones suppress the reactions of the immune system. The first thing you should do is eliminate stress-inducing activities and treat it.
Try taking deep breaths, meditate, go to yoga, take a hot bath or nap with your partner, child, or pet
Step 3. Eat healthy
Comforting foods taste good, but are likely to reduce your ability to heal. Make sure your next meal is made up of 75% different colored fruits and vegetables.
- Reduce the amount of refined sugars and carbohydrates you eat. Some doctors claim they cause more frequent inflammation.
- Whole wheat, lean proteins, fruits and vegetables are foods recommended in anti-inflammatory diets.
Step 4. Get 30 minutes of exercise a day
Take a 10-minute walk after each meal, or schedule half an hour of exercise to reduce the possibility of contracting chronic diseases and to strengthen the immune system.
Step 5. Take a blood test
Blood tests help identify problems with cholesterol, thyroid, diabetes, prostate antigen, and more. They are also the best solution to prevent disease and to cure a condition before it becomes degenerative.
Step 6. Get at least seven to eight hours of sleep a night
Sleep is also meant to heal; while you sleep, your cells repair themselves. So make sleep your priority.
