Flat feet (pes planus or drooping arches) are painful. It is a pathology in which the arch of the foot has collapsed. See your doctor if you want orthotics or continue reading these detailed instructions to fix the problem on your own.
Steps
Step 1. Wear good shoes
This is the most important remedy. Make sure they are comfortable and the right size. There should be a support arch starting from the side and dissolving in the center.
Step 2. Tighten your shoes
When you don't, the support arch loses its function and can ruin your toes and cause blisters. The support arch should be neither too far back nor too far forward.
Step 3. Try this exercise:
- Tie a small rubber band around your big toes.
- Place a can between your feet, under your arches, and try to make your heels touch each other.
Step 4. Add a support stand
If you already have a pair of shoes that do not have an orthotic or have a minimal support arch, wear orthotics or insoles inside the shoes.
Step 5. In extreme cases, where you have pain in the ankle, knee and / or hip or back, see a podiatrist
There is a new treatment called Hy-Pro Cure, it is minimally invasive, can be done in an outpatient clinic and is fully covered by insurance (having the requisites required). They align your foot and insert a screw into your ankle. After the surgery you will be able to walk with an arch. They do one foot at a time, about six weeks apart.
Advice
- Don't use second hand shoes. They will have already taken the shape of whoever wore them before. This applies to everyone.
- Take care of flat feet "ASAP".
- While each type of shoe is different, some brands like DVS, Nike, Etnies or Asics make excellent support arches.
Warnings
- You may need to invest in a pair of shoes.
- Treat flat feet immediately.
- It may be necessary to consult a podiatrist for further detailed help.
