Making popcorn at home can be really easy and affordable, just a large enough pan is enough! You no longer have to depend on the microwave or popcorn maker. Prepare them as you like and enjoy!
Ingrediants
- A pack of corn kernels
- Oil or butter
Steps
Step 1. Buy a pack of dried corn kernels
You can find them everywhere, both in supermarkets and in ethnic food stores. Generally, you can save more by buying larger packages.
Step 2. Take the largest pan you have and a lid of the same size
Choose well, it is essential for good cooking. Grease the whole pan, place it on a stove and then pour the corn kernels into it.
Step 3. Determine how many popcorns the pan can hold
Imagine the average size of a popcorn and try to figure out how many kernels you could pour.
Step 4. Pour the corn into the pan (initially, try a couple of handfuls to see if they are enough) and turn the stove on over medium heat
Step 5. Immediately place the lid on the pan
Step 6. After a while, you will begin to hear the popping of the grains jumping into the pan
Do not remove the lid for any reason while the fire is on and the corn is bursting! When you no longer hear the crackling of the beans, you can turn off the heat and remove the pan from the stove.
Step 7. Lift the lid slightly to take a look inside
The popcorn should be ready. Lift the lid and you will smell the butter.
Step 8. If you want to enjoy some sweet popcorn, you can sprinkle them with some sugar or sweetener while they are still in the pan
Put the lid back on and shake it lightly. The butter (or oil) will allow the sugar to adhere to the popcorn.
Step 9. If you want to taste them with cheese, you can add some Cheddar and follow the same procedure as for sweet popcorn
Step 10. Now they are ready to serve
Enjoy your meal!
Step 11. Finished
Advice
- If you want to make butter popcorn, you can melt it in the pan and use it instead of oil.
- If you want salty popcorn, follow the same process as described for making it with sugar or cheese, using salt instead of these ingredients.
- Using a stainless steel pot can burn popcorn easily, so do some test cooking or use a diffuser.
- If most of the corn kernels haven't popped, you probably used too little oil, the temperature was too low, or you spilled too many kernels.
Warnings
- Don't try making caramel popcorn at home. You will probably only be able to set the kitchen on fire.
- Boiling oil, hot pans, and burning stoves can cause severe burns. Be extremely careful, especially if there are children in the house.
- If you remove the lid while the pan is still on the stove, popcorn will splash everywhere.
- Do not cook other popcorn in a pan that is dirty with sugar or salt.
