Powdered hot chocolate mixes usually contain very little pure chocolate, unless you use high-quality (usually very expensive) brands. For this recipe all you need is a microwave and a few ingredients.
Ingrediants
- 150 g of chocolate (chopped)
- 600 ml of milk
- Cinnamon powder
- Sugar
- Whipped Cream
- Extra toppings (mini-marshmallows, chocolate chips or chips, molasses, raw brown sugar, chopped hazelnuts)
Steps
Step 1. Pour the milk into a microwave-safe bowl or cup
Step 2. Heat to high temperature for about 2 minutes
Step 3. Add the chopped chocolate and half a teaspoon of cinnamon
Step 4. Return to the microwave and cook until the chocolate is completely melted
Step 5. Beat the mixture until smooth and foamy
Step 6. Pour into three different cups and add about half a teaspoon of sugar to each cup
Top with whipped cream.
Step 7. Add more extra toppings
Advice
- Cow's milk can be substituted for soy milk, or you can also use semi-skimmed milk.
- For a change, instead of milk chocolate, try white chocolate.
Warnings
- Excessive consumption of chocolate, milk and cream can have negative health effects - only drink chocolate from time to time!
- Be very careful when using the microwave - the cup can get hot!
- Do not let the milk overflow while you melt the chocolate.
