Step 1. Choose and pour your beer
With the right beer, you really can't go wrong. Here are some types of beer you can use to make your shandy:
- Wheat beer. Smooth and velvety, but slightly heavier, it perfectly matches the lemon aroma.
- Lager. Lively and refreshing, it will allow you to prepare a delicious and light shandy.
- Pilsner. Its characteristic flavor will make your shandy more intense and aromatic.
Step 2. Choose and pour your lemonade
Whether you decide to buy it ready-made, make it from scratch or replace it with a carbonated drink (such as Lemonsoda, Fanta Lemon or Sprite), your shandy will be a guarantee of success. Follow these simple tips:
- If possible, choose a lemonade with natural ingredients. With a quality beer, a natural lemonade will make your drink perfect. Sure, you can make a perfectly acceptable shandy even with a lemonade made from concentrated juice, but don't expect your drink to have the same panache.
- If you have decided to use a fizzy drink like Sprite, reduce the amounts indicated slightly. Fizzy drinks are very sweet and a very sugary shandy may not please everyone, as the taste of the beer would be at least partially covered. Add your drink gradually and taste the shandy to customize it to your taste.
Step 3. Add ice to the shandy (optional)
If you don't mind diluting your beer slightly, add some ice to keep your shandy chilled.
