Both sweet and bitter, Thai iced tea is a delicious and refreshing blend of black tea, condensed milk, sugar and spices. There is no single recipe for this pleasant summer drink, read the article and discover two excellent variations.

Traditional Thai Iced Tea
- 30 g of black tea leaves
- 1, 440 l of boiling water
- 125 g of sweetened condensed milk
- 110 g of sugar
- 240 ml of evaporated whole milk, coconut (mix different types of milk if you wish)
- Star anise, tamarind powder and cardamom, to taste

Thai Iced Tea Restaurant Style
- 720 ml of water
- 3 tablespoons of Assam tea leaves
- 4 green cardamom seeds
- 3-4 Cloves
- 1 Star anise
- 1 teaspoon of Vanilla Extract
- 1/2 teaspoon of Star Anise powder
- 2 tablespoons of sugar
- 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk
- 3-4 tablespoons of evaporated milk

Steps
Method 1 of 2: First Method: Traditional Thai Iced Tea
Step 1. Soak the tea leaves and spices in boiling water for 5 minutes
Pour the water into a pot through a filter to hold the leaves.
Step 2. Add the sugar and mix to dissolve it completely
Stir in the condensed milk, cover the pot and let the tea rest and cool until it reaches room temperature.
Step 3. Serve the tea in a tall glass with ice cubes
Pour the tea over ice and do not fill the glass completely.
Step 4. Top off the drink with milk of your choice (evaporated, whole, coconut or blended)
Serve it immediately without stirring.
Method 2 of 2: Second Method: Thai Restaurant Style Iced Tea
Step 1. Bring the water to a boil in a medium-sized saucepan
Place the tea leaves, cardamom seeds, cloves, and star anise in a filter or tea bag.
Step 2. When the water boils, reduce the heat
Add the leaves and spices, making sure they are completely submerged in the water.
Step 3. Leave to infuse for 5 minutes
Remove the sachet / filter and add the star anise powder, vanilla extract, sugar and sweetened condensed milk.
Step 4. Stir to dissolve the sugar in the mixture and then wait for it to cool down to room temperature
Step 5. Serve in a tall glass with ice cubes
Pour the tea over ice and do not fill the glass completely. Complete the drink with the evaporated milk and serve it immediately, without stirring.
Advice
- Black tea should be strong enough to eventually be diluted with milk or cream. If you prefer, use tea bags instead of the leaves.
- If you want to make a healthier drink, replace sweetened condensed milk with whole milk.
